Nice do you plan on using it for fishing?
Do you boat other lakes then Geneva?

I mainly boat on Geneva. I have some night time walleye passes saved up in my noggin . I bought some drift socks/bags to slow me down too (hopefully enough). Would like to hit a couple other lakes, too

Idk... Good possibility that I will just use the bracket that it comes with, and put it right in the center. It's supposed to arrive tomorrow. I'll hold it up and check it out... Might use a small Cisco mount if it has to come up and swivel.

Well I held it up in various places on the dash, off to the side, even towards the front on the outside of the windshield (in that area where the bumpers go in that little slot) and I really don't like any of the places lol. So I am sending it back and going without one.

All that for nothing lol!!!

Yep doesn't supprise me. If I was real good like slide I would add a glass unit to mine.

been struggling with this for 2 years. Finally just am using my old iPad Mini on a ram mount suction cup to the windshield. Navionics and it works great.

That's the exact setup I'm going for! How do you power the iPad? I found that when mine isn't plugged in the screen won't stay on with Navionics running.

And how do you get navionics on your iPad???

On Geneva I could really use the Sonar. But the Navionics would Def help

Navionics is on the app store to purchase.

The bad elf GPS dongle has power pass through. I have a short 2 foot long cable that plugs right into the cigarette power port below it. I typically don't have to power it to use it though. I can get at least a couple hours out of the iPad Mini battery before charging.

I did have to turn off the screen lock or sleep feature to prevent the display from turning off. But it shows location, speed, etc. perfectly. Depth is based on the map, so you have to use judgment if the lake level is drawn down, etc. It's way better than not having GPS.

JT thanks for sharing! It sounds like a pretty good option, and I am going to look into it for sure. I don't have a mini but I do have one of the bigger one's. It's worth a shot!! Thanks again!

I'll have to go look at the screen settings on the iPad then, the battery life is fine it just goes to sleep when not plugged in. For other apps it stays on if the app is doing something, for some reason it doesn't for Nav.

I'm pairing all that with SonarPhone T-Box, which integrates into the Navionics display.

Looks like our IPad does not have gps. I don't know. Some friends have asked why I don't get a portable one. I am not against that, but I don't know how that transducer mounts, where the screen goes, etc. etc. This might just be more hassle than it's worth.

You just get a GPS app.
