Garmin/simrad/lowrance vs OEM depth gauge?
Re: Garmin/simrad/lowrance vs OEM depth gauge?
I went with the textured finish to avoid having a finger print magnet. I got the right side owner finished up tonight. Waiting for it to dry so that I can get all the switches and guages transferred and mounted. After that I'll tackle the left side panel.

I dig the hammered finish, should look slick all back together.

Prepped and permanently glued the new lexan faceplate to the original metal plate. Going to leave it clamped for 24hours.
Also test fitting the paper template to the Garmin to make sure it all lines up.

Transferred all the guages and switches to the right panel. I'm starting to like how it is turning out.

Almost done with the left side panel. Now I just need to reroute a bunch of wires and then mount the last few pieces.

Surprised you went with such a small unit. That’s going to be a bear to navigate by.

We are on fairly small lakes. Lake Travis and Lake Austin mostly. There's not really any navigating going on here. Just depth mostly. And would be neat to have the fish finder function for when the kids want to fish. I looked at the 5 and 7 inch units but they were too big to flush mount. Trying to keep it a clean OEM looking install.akorcovelos wrote: Sun Apr 12, 2020 11:31 am Surprised you went with such a small unit. That’s going to be a bear to navigate by.

Got both panels and wiring extensions all wrapped up. Going to try and get it all back in the boat next week and then wire up additional JVC remote, wire the Garmin and install the transducer.
