I’m no engineer but I don’t see the temperatures being much different than under the hood of a car or truck. Almost every opening is closed off to divert air over or under the vehicle.

Every turbo I’m familiar with had an oil line feeding it. Not sure about the eco boost
.
Turbo technology has come a long way in the last 10-15 years. I will say though that the two turbo cars we own ..one a twin turbo V8 and the other a turbo four...are smoking hot when you open the hood vs our normally aspirated counterparts. Especially if you get on them. :) At least no one here will drive their boat that way.

.
Turbo tech has come a long way for sure, but at the end of the day you are still routing hot engine gasses around the engine bay instead of sending them straight out the back of the boat. The EGT's on my BMW average 1300 - 1500 degrees, so yeah toasty.

I figured Forced induction was coming to boats, I just assumed it would be factory superchargers before we tried turbos.
.
So true team Nauti. Especially since so many of us are fans of those Merc supercharged blue beasts and the technology that rolls down hill from Merc Racing.

With a near-infinite supply of <90F water to cool with, it seems like getting
rid of heat should be a fairly simple design challenge. (disclaimer: I am not a
thermodynamic design engineer).

Hmm, an R35 with twin 3.5's could be a fun combo? 🤔

I have one in my F150 Limited and love it, and two is always more fun than one (unless you are replacing drives)😂

I would jump on a 3.5 Ecoboost in a heartbeat. Our Expedition pulls like a freight train, and power delivery would be perfect for a boat.

Agree. I have the Raptor-spec EcoBoost in my Navigator and it is a phenomenal engine.

I just purchased my second ecoboost, max trailer tow package, only pulled boat once with no problems.
I do have a problem with my backup camera- it quit about the time I left dealership, Ford to replace camera but part is back ordered, It appears to be a widespread issue with the 2020 Ford's

I don't get why people bash that engine, power and dependability
Probably not the best on mileage but it's a truck
Coming from a guy who used to think the Ford inline, 300- 6 was a great engine

I get a solid 20-21 mpg at speed in the Navigator and it has the aerodynamics of a small house. I have no complaints at all.

I averaged about 9.5 pulling the 26' box race trailer to Laguna Seca and back yesterday, which includes some hills. Not has good as the 11.5 mpg I averaged with my old Duramax diesel, but no complaints here either.

It's a really phenomenal motor.

Gotta love the low/mid power of a blower, but..
Super chargers suffer power losses at high RPM. It takes a LOT of power to turn them. A Turbo runs pretty efficiently and takes virtually no power to run.
My Truck, wife’s SUV, lawnmower/tractor, snowmobiles are all turbo powered. The boat could use one LOL.

Sounds like we have something to do during the garage party 🎉😂😂
I'm in!
Jeef has the bourbon! Tank he has directions on his laptop. We won't need those though. Liquid well he'll bring the spoons! Yt he'll give us the winning bid when done. Matt and I are bringing the tools. A7 will be cheering us on with great words of encouragement 😂😂📣📣👍
