I approve this thread. Has anyone ever seen an actual 252 with the blue beast? I would love to know the top speed of that boat.
There is a 253 at Winfield lake (about 30 minutes from me) with a blue 500-525 (McKeller could tell you for sure) that I’ve seen YouTube videos of it hitting 70 mph. Obviously a cuddy version of our boat, but heavier and impressive.
.
Do you have that YouTube link SD? Are you sure it wasn't a 263? It would be one special 253 since that combo was never offered. The 253 was no longer built in 2001 when the blue motors were introduced. Only the 252 and 25LS had the option in that size category...again for only one year--2001. Either the 253 owner custom replaced his factory engine with a 500EFI back then (or the more recent 525EFI) or the original purchaser was able to somehow work with the dealer to have the 2001 blue motor installed at the factory into his late build 2000 253. Would love to see a pic of this anomaly.
.
Let me see what I can come up with.

McKellar just said the boat was purchased new in 99. In 2000 the blue motors came out and the original owner sent it right back to be re-powered. The current owner bought it from the original owner, and he said he does 70-72.

Nice job SD!
That is a unicorn for sure. Blue Motors were not even listed in the brochure until 2001. He really had the inside scoop with his dealer. A very unique breed indeed.
Thanks for getting those pics too. A great resource for the forum.

I looked for the video his wife posted but they must have changed the privacy on it. I can see where it was posted, but can’t see the video any longer. They said the original owner was an American Airlines pilot.

I think he's a bit under priced for what he has though.. We've seen that boat in person and she's a mean machine!
He was close to buying that all white 272 2 years ago. Close I tell you! The owner just couldn't let her go at his offer though. I thought they could have made the deal if they each would have givin a little both ways

There is a 282 with twin blues on table rock. The owner also owned the 272 that was floated on here twice now. Don’t know the guy I’ve just heard about it

Is this something a consumer could special order still from the factory if they were willing to pay for it?
https://www.mercuryracing.com/sterndriv ... s/700-sci/
Why not that in an R7 if someone really wanted it and had the cash for it?
