Watch out!! I have a 2019 R3 Surf on a 7k hydro hoist and just busted off the prop cone and bent both prop shafts. According to my dealer it is a $6300 repair or an $8800 replacement of the entire lower unit. I had the prop fully up and was only a couple inches forward than my normal position. I have to put the boat up far enough that it doesn't just slide back while the lift is going up and put all the weight on the back end. All I have found to prevent this in the future is to thicken or heighten the bunks to give it more clearance. But I am having the hydro hoist dealer come out and look to see if they can change the setup or possibly install a bow stop. I can't believe I haven't found anyone else that has had this problem with a front mount lift. They just weren't made for these boats. Unfortunately, I don't think I'm able to install anything but a front mount lift.
.
Hey thanks for the heads up wewunder.
These surf boats are a different animal with those forward facing props that drive down when you trim up. I’m sure others are experiencing similar damage.
Any pics?
So glad you found us. And welcome aboard mate!

Thanks. Here are some pictures. I did hear back from hydro hoist. They were quick to respond but didn't offer much advice other than a few suggestions that have their pitfalls so basically just the lift isn't made to hold a FWD. Unfortunately, I'm at a shared dock in deep water so a bottom mount is not really an option otherwise I would switch lifts in a heartbeat. Notice the prop cone (~$12) shattered off and bent the prop-pin/shaft. Apparently there are two (one for each prop) and they were both bent. So it's $7000 repair or $9000 replacement of entire lower unit. And yes I had the trim all the way up when it happened... just backed the boat up and lowered the trim back down to get under and access the situation. I guess it is what it is, lesson learned, but my problem is resolving the issue so it doesn't happen again. And nobody seems to have an answer which is the frustrating part.
The pic of the entire boat looks fine until you notice the boat is too far back, putting tons of stress on my bow security rope and bending the cleat as well as putting too much stress on the back of the lift which supposedly causes loss of buoyancy and stresses the lift's structure.

Could you install a bow stop on this lift? You just come in until you bump up to it. I'm sure Shorestations or Shoremasters could be retro fitted on your lift.

I have nothing to add except this is a very cool looking boat

I will never buy Hydrohoist again after my 3.5 year old 12k lift cracked a tank and sunk. Abysmal customer service. I won’t go into too many details on a public forum. Let’s just say I feel there are better quality lifts these days who take better care of their customers than Hydrohoist. Poly lift or nothing for me moving forward.
Ohoh. Is the boat ok?
Oh yeah, boat is fine. The lift is junk. I’m learning to weld HDPE. Hydrohoist SUCKS and I’m going to make it my part time job to tell everyone I can
