Reminds me of the time I was driving my SUV and my wife smelled gas. She started to worry and got mad at me for not being worried.
I finally reminded her that we were driving a diesel.

I don’t know, the ones I took out looked fine but we’re obviously a problem in my boat. It ran fine every where except under a load.

I did a little reading out there on the net. Others have had problems. There is some debate as to gap setting.

I hope plug wires fix my current issue.

Would you happen to have a part number for the plug? And a gap setting? I put the same ones in that came out. Ngk. I’m not at the shop to look at a number on them.

I'll send you the plug part number on the weekend when I get to my Summer place - I think they were AC Delco Platinum Plugs.

They are pregapped. You try to gap them you wreck the plug Instantly.
Sorry AC plug in a gm engine. Just me. Volvo wants a champion. Um nope.

Mine we pre-gapped as well -- I bought mine from a Volvo "certified" marine outfit. Are AC Delco's not recommended for a Volvo engine?

Volvo just uses Champion. If you look at the Volvo parts that's What you will get. I'm a GM oem guy the block is gm so I use AC Delco. I would have to look but yes GM used another brand of these plugs for a bit too.
Also mercury marine 496 recommended these plugs hence why I went with them. Believe it or not I read for hours on plugs. Mine had reg plugs in it. Couldn't figure out why but it did and it was ok. I just wasn't cool with non platinum tip plugs in it.

My plugs are ngk itr4a15. Crosses over to AC 41-101.

Then I realize bbp has the gxi. I’m going to change mine to the 41-983

I’m hoping a mo betta plug and new wires (chocks have changed the
M last year with the new plugs) fix my issue.

I like that idea. I might stick my old plugs in one half now. Thanks for the advice👍

There is no distributor cap. Coil packs on each cylinder.

We had a bad plug and a bad coil pack with similar symptoms that yours exhibits. Replaced plugs and the pack and good to go. The tech can shut down each pack with computer to diagnose the bad one.

Let’s get you fixed.
UPDATE!!

Changed my plugs and coils. During plug change, one was difficult to thread on. Eventually I got it seated, but knew it wasn't "right". Anyhow, after the plugs and the coils were changed, I took her out for a sea trial full on throttle and I blew the sparkplug out of the engine.

Not what I would consider a successful mission. She's now moored and will be towed a couple of hours away to be serviced. I'm now having a glass of wine, slightly upset, on Father's Day weekend.

Hopefully, the damage won't be too bad.

Will update after the marina assesses the engine.

Sigh.

Cheers!!
