Our new R6 Surf has trim tabs but they do not integrate on the screen. The switches for the trim tabs do not have any indicator lights to let you know how far engaged they are. I haven’t tried to use them while surfing. Has anyone received confirmation on whether they are disengaged while surfing?

We have an r8 surf with trim tabs. We only have 6 hrs on it and have just had it out to cruise a bit and play with the wave. I was disappointed to see that the tabs didn’t have indicator lights. I was told that it has something to do with the performance mode, but I don’t have confirmation on that, I’ve heard a few stories as to why. The non surf models have the indicator lights. The tabs are disengaged when you push trailer. They auto retract when you turn the engine off. I didn’t think to check and see if they are able to be used while surfing. I would think they are disengaged but I don’t know for sure I’ll check next warm day we get.

The waive on our R8S is way bigger than our r7 surf and its much easier to make it longer or shorter and higher. We can’t wait for the weather to warm up here in Missouri so we can actually get back and surf.

Bringing this topic back up. Just took delivery of our new R8S a week ago; replaced a Nautique so this is the first I/O we have had and I am still learning the functions and how things work.

Has there been any more learning around how the R6S/R8S models use the trim tabs? I have the rocker switches on the right side of the helm and they appear to work great to level out the boat at speed.

I have not tried to see if they move when surfing. As noted above, there are no indicator lights to understand the tab position and I have not tried to add them in the Garmin screens. How have others used these? Is it just by feel?
