Since you are going to use this boat for tubing as well, ask the dealer where to connect the tubing line to the boat. The tower is for wakeboarding, knee boarding, and skiing only.
.
Thank you, right before the step down on the swim platform is the hole where the ski and tubing post screws in when you’re using it. It is probably about a 2 foot post that makes it go above the outboard motor. I believe it’s the circle in this picture.
.
Fantastic
Another member here probably did not get that option as he was asking the same question but did not have the pylon.
Always good to check before you purchase.
I see this boat in your slip or driveway.
.
A7 I think that's the SC series with that issue. Not sure why they wouldn't design that into that hull?

Go with the I/O model if one is on the floor. I think you will be much better off. Closed cooling, dual prop and an unobstructive swim platform out weigh any benefits that the outboard may offer (plus 300hp is way too small for an R6). As far as using an I/O in SW? Why not. They both drink from the same fountain plus the VP is closed water cooled to boot.

Our local boat dealer/friend claims that you do not need as much HP on an outboard as you do I/O as there is less HP lost thru the drivetrain. He has nothing to gain by selling either as they sell and repair both.

What would the equivalent I/O HP need to be to match the 300 eggbeater?

True you might see the same top end with a 300hp OB vs 350hp I/O but with the dual prop of the I/O and the weight lower and further forward your time to plane and general pulling tubers, skiers, ect I think you would be better served with the I/O.

Too bad there’s no room to hang another 300 off the back of that rascal. You’d get there in a hurry with twins.

Why wouldn't there be room for a second outboard? Same beam as an R8, which can be purchased with twins

Room yea. Design nope. I think it would be cool. #BUsFault!
I'm sure the transom can't handle it or the boat can't?

Thank you everyone for the help and advice. We ended up not driving the R6 with the outboard. They had an R6 with the 380 that we test drove because I had read about such good things with that boat and that size engine. It was an incredible boat. With that said based upon what we’re looking to do we placed a deposit and ordered the R8 With the 430. It was more than what we planned on spending however since I’m going in with my brother, we decided what the hell. He is turning 60 and I’m 53. His grandkids and my kids will love it.
Again thank you for the help and the kind words. I will update when we get it sometime after the first of the year.

Love it! Going from maybe good enough to an even bigger boat with the largest engine available.
Congratulations
