Already a lot of boats for sale in mid Missouri. Happens every time gas prices go up. Rvs ,boats, trucks usually get dumped. Good time to buy. Just an inconvenience for us for now.

Well this is generally the time boat sales start ramping up. I am definitely going to watch all markets.

I imagine we will think a bit more about doing as many long runs up the lake as last year and be spending more time anchored at the sandbar. Thankfully that sandbar is just a five minute idle outside the channel from our slip.

But also, our kids won't be young forever and I work hard to be able to afford fun recreation and memories for our family. I wont let this added expense impact that much.

I was paying about $3.30 per gallon last summer for fuel delivery to the 300-gallon skid tank that I put in two years ago on our property. This summer, if current prices hold, it looks like it will be about $1 per gallon more. I'm not likely to change my habits at $4.30/gallon summer is short in MN, so I'm going to enjoy it!

How common is that with the lakefront property owners on your lake? Ive never really looked on our lake if some of the lakefront property owners have them.

What was the initial investment?

Yeah, it's gonna hurt. But..it could be a ya-hoo filter also. Every weekend on the lake for the past two years has been like a July 4th. Everybody with something that floats has been on the water. Maybe this will keep some of 'em home.

It’s the same where I boat! We have had to find new places to anchor because the regular’s are too busy. We can only hope that some will stay home!

This comment gave me a good chuckle because.....well, its true for our lake too. I'm guessing it will keep some folks off the water this year but overall I think what your and my lakes are witnessing as far as overall traffic is the new norm. Hopefully I'm wrong.....

I think as COVID travel restrictions start to die down, you'll see this type of traffic tapper off (cautiously optimistic).

Super common in Minnesota and my next door neighbor has one as well so we have a little gas dock that we share as I placed my tank a couple of yards from his on our lot line. I was a surprised that in my county there is no permit required to have one but I’m sure that is not the case everywhere. Initial cost was $650 for the skid tank and about the same for the 160 foot hose and that included installation from the fuel delivery company.

Fuel on our lake averages about $1.75-$2.00 more than local gas station prices so each 300 gallon fill saves me about $550. The tank and hose was paid for after my 3rd fill up which was just a couple of months after I bought it.

I plan to fill it 7 or 8 times again this summer. This morning crude oil dropped about 7% so hopefully that trend continues.

Here are the two tanks sitting right on the lot line next to my neighbors house. They are pretty much hidden unless you are very close to them.

8 tank fill ups at 300 gal = 2400 gallons.....50 gallon boat tank====44 fill ups in a very short season (May-Sept at best?) That's gotta be a Cobalt Chat consumption record!
