Yea they make plastic ones. Reminder gong 50mph down the lake with that flag whipping is alot of force on them though. Yes they make alot of noise.

Looks nice! I would just go with zip ties - the metal clips make a terrible racket. I remember trying to sleep on my 290 SeaRay with the burgee flapping around! So a question for you -- I am planning to get a flag pole for my R5 so I have been watching this. The Tigtech pole is very nice, but also very pricy - I got a quote from them, $340 and that does include the flag - about 2x the SeaLux. If you had not gotten this "deal" on the SeaLux, would you have still bought one or would you have gone with the Tigtech?

I’ve had the boat for 15 years and had always wanted a flag pole, but I was never willing to spend $300 plus on one. At the same time I really wasn’t interested in an Attwood or Perko level of quality. So I just didn’t do anything.

When I saw Dudley’s flag pole come up for sale, I thought it looked really nice, especially for $90. I had never heard of SeaLux so I did some quick research on their flag pole and came away convinced it would look right at home on a Cobalt.

The Tig Technologies flag pole mount seems wide open when the flag pole is not in place, so the SeaLux mount with the spring-loaded cover looks better to me. I will have to see if there is any undue noise with just the SeaLux mount all by itself.

Hey - are you still happy with your SeaLux flagpole? I think I am going to go that route for my R5. I checked on the Tig Tech pole, $340 + shipping. For kicks I asked my Cobalt dealer about a Cobalt flagpole (not sure what they use now, not Tig Tech, but they still look very nice) - $695 for the pole, and I can't remember the installation cost - my brain shutdown when I heard the flagpole price! They are nice, but damn! Even $340 for the Tig Tech pole is pretty steep and from your pictures, the SeaLux looks nice. Also worried about cutting the holes in my boat, mainly at an angle, but it looks like yours worked out ok.

I would like some feedback as well. Looking on Amazon there is a company called Marine City and their product looks identical to SeaLux. Thinking of ordering the Marine City kit for $95 to check out the quality, worst case its Amazon send it back. I wonder what brand Cobalt is using now?

$695?!? Cobalt is literally charging double that of the Tig Tech! I guess the Malibu executives really wanted a nice Christmas bonus.

I was very worried about this also. So worried, in fact, that I did a test cut at home in some plywood to get a feel for how squirrely the hole saw would be while cutting at an angle. I came away convinced that the process would be controllable and predictable. You should definitely do some practice cuts in plywood beforehand.

Hey - are you still happy with your SeaLux flagpole?

I am very happy with the SeaLux so far. I haven’t had the flagpole back in yet, but I haven’t heard any rattling or noise from the mount yet, which was a concern.

The biggest win is that I don’t even notice the flag pole mount, which means I didn’t make any errors that catch my eye every time that I look.

Is this the one you’re looking at? Like you say, they look identical to the SeaLux. I wouldn’t hesitate to try one of these out, especially with Amazon free shipping and return.

That's the one I have been looking at on Amazon. They also make a different pole that is tapered but has a hook on the top vs an eyelet.
