Congrats T5!

I wish the chrome molding strip did not angle down but instead were parallel with your Cobalt’s chrome molding for aesthetics. Curious why the platform did not wrap it toward the top of the fiberglass. Other than that, you will get quite a bit of use out of her. Nice addition.

Looks great! You will definitely enjoy having that... Party on the platform! I've always said they need to add cupholders back there!

Yeah the angle of that chrome strip was the only thing that threw me off a bit.


Cup holders would have been nice, as would a terrarium. I'll send in a comment card with the suggestions

I didn't take a picture of it but the undermount ladder on the new platform is great. Lowest rung is quite a bit lower than it was on the factory ladder, makes it a lot easier to get in and out of the boat while it's on the trailer. Should be good while floating too.

Not sure how yours is set up exactly, T550, but on our 262, the bottom rung can get "chopped" by the prop on the outdrive when stationary and turning the wheel full port with the outdrive not fully down (like when you are in the shallow beach area & forget to bring the ladder up). When I purchased our boat from the previous owner, I did not realize I was missing the last step until about 3 years later when I noticed some pictures of other's boats which still had it. It was a design flaw.

Just make sure your ladder steps clear the full range of your outdrive (up, down, left right).

The original ladder was in range of the drive. The new one is far enough back that there's no way the drive will hit it at any trim level. There's probably 18 inches between the prop and the ladder when the drive is trimmed up (not trailer, just up) and the ladder is down. The drive is tucked under there pretty good now.

I should have grabbed some pics yesterday, had the boat at the house working on painting the drive. Swim deck was great for shade while working on the drive, not so good on my back having to duck down underneath it. Found it with my head once too . Got the upper done, ran out of light and paint. Upper was the hard part anyway, had to take the trim rams off and keep raising and lowering the drive by hand to get everything. Taking her out again tomorrow, will grab some pics then. Also gotta get some on-water pics with the new platform. Swim Platforms said they'd send me a free cooler for some floating shots, guess they need some for advertising.

Yes, while working on the outdrive under our extended swim platform, we would crank the front of our trailer all the way down. Saved hitting our heads just a few times.

Sounds awesome. It's just nice with Kids not paying attention of where the drive is. It's out of the way and under the boat now. We trim ours up because we beach where it is shallow so you have to watch for it some what still.

I measured 18" of clearance from prop to ladder with the drive trailered and turned all the way to the right. That's as close as it will ever get. Here's some pics with the drive trailered, trimmed up, and trimmed down.

Great to see plenty of distance from the ladder to that outdrive, T550....Our 262 with the shorter platform caused me to slice my foot on the Volvo DPS prop one day while swimming a little to close as I was clinging onto the ladder-- outdrive 1/2 raised. Should not be much of an issue with yours --especially with the outdrive lowered.

Nice reinforcement rods underneath as well. She's on there nice and strong by the looks of it.

Also good to see you have trim tabs. They are great in balancing the loads in these deep vee hulls with multiple folks onboard. Now get that outdrive painted!
