@ bean, Can you confirm your door height? And if you still have the boat on the trailer, can I talk you into measuring the distance from the keel of the boat to the floor (maybe no so easy to do). Cobalt just confirmed that the keel to folded tower height of an R3 is 7' 10". So, if the keel isn't more than about 12" off the ground, an R3 loaded on a trailer should just get through a 9' high garage door opening. Thanks, B

And then there's the let some air out of the tires trick. Maybe get an air compressor to pump them back up.

I suppose you can gain an inch there. :)

Heard back from Loadmaster. An R3 keel sits about 20" from the ground on a Loadmaster trailer which means the total height with the tower down is 114" or 9.5'. The boat can't sit any lower as the hull is already only inches from the fenders. They can reduce the size of the wheels by adding an axle (3 in total) but that seems a bit extreme and I don't know if it would give me the 6" I need (probably not). So the garage length isn't the only problem I have. :(

That’s exactly what I did for a few summers with my R5. I have a gravel floor in my shed so every spring I would just use a skid loader to dig the gravel down 6” in one of the door openings. Then after the boat was put to bed for the winter I would fill the hole back up until spring. Cheap and effective for a few years until I got the EZ Fold Bimini system installed.

Interesting idea but it wouldn’t work for me. The structure sits on a poured concreter slab with in floor heating loops. If I need headroom it means a garage lift and two new doors to replace the 3 doors currently in place.
