I venture to say my 220 will be long sold before I get the R5. We have a vacation planned July 11th, where we are taking it to UP of Michigan to visit family and do some boating up on the great lakes. So surely it will be in by then.

I know, and I'm sorry.
My mojo took on a slow death from the beginning of May until July.
Like removing a band-aid off of a hairy arm. I'm just ripping it off for him fast.😱
I truly hope I'm wrong.

Yeah...you may want to ask your dealer just that! He may not know what the real build schedule might be, so he may let you keep your boat until your R5 arrives.
Worth..a..shot.

Where are you headed. We will be on lake superior this summer in Grand Marias Mi

How was the 4.5 in that boat. Did it pull loaded and ski good or water sports?

My aunt and uncle have a cottage at Les Chenaux Islands, Cederville area. So that's where we are going for a week. The 4.5 had plenty of power. Pulled ski, tubes, wakeboard, and kneeboard wonderfully. Very good torque and I could run 45mph with myself.

Cycle,
If you think about it...
The R series is sold out this summer, which means the entire summer delivery season of the R series is spoken for. Your dealer “just” ordered your boat this week. Where does that place you in line if they are sold out for the entire summer season?
I’m guessing at the end..

Another possibility you may have? Its very possible your dealer has a current build slot with a pending stock order, which can be changed to your specs. 😀. I think we’re all rooting for that one!
Either way, your dealer can give you an answer by calling the factory..
Just to be safe that you don’t lose the 2018 season, I think I would call your dealer and tell them that you want your current boat until the new one arrives.

Tuscany,
When I was talking about ordering one last week, my dealer did mention he already had a R5 allocated and he said he could modify his stock order for my sold order. I'll call this morning to verify that is indeed what he did, and ask him what knowledge he has of the R series being scheduled out for the remaining of the season.

That’s GREAT!🍺🍺.
Hopefully, you will be getting your boat on schedule!
That build slot is worth a few bucks this year.

A little experience from my order..
Find out when your boat is scheduled to be locked. Keep up on Cobalt’s website, because they randomly add options along the way that may be available for your build.
In my case, VP released the gen 5 engine after I ordered. They ended the 6.0L and updated to the 6.2L direct injection aluminum block engine which was a huge increase in torque and efficiency, and another 40lb weight drop. I personally called the factory to make sure that my boat was built with the 6.2L. I was one of the first 6.2L builds, and just got lucky with my build lock date. I would have moved my boat back a month if I missed the changeover date. So, plan on some changes before they lock, and stay on top of it.

Question, why made you choose the Merc over the VP?

Dealer Network is why I choose the Merc over VP, preference of Dealer. Good information to keep in mind regarding boat build and update on options as the boat nears production in a couple months.
