As TR stated, any umbrella with a 1.375" pole will work. TR's area may be different, but most of the walmart umbrellas are 1.375" in diameter. My adapter has a stainless thumbscrew to help secure a non-latching umbrella shaft into the adapter, so it will help secure such an umbrella. However, the thumbscrew will not hold the umbrella in big wind gusts, so I also include a stainless bolt. If you are willing, you can drill a through hole through the umbrella pole and use the bolt all the way through my adapter and the umbrella to securely hold the umbrella in wind.

That said, in the factory model, they use a 2 piece pole like this one:

http://treasuregarden.com/milan-p-1385.html

You can download the manual for these and see that the lower pole is removable via a push button latch. Early in this thread, Tbully showed the factory umbrella latched into place in the factory adapter:

My adapter also has this machined step and the hole for the latch. So, if you opt to buy a higher end 2 piece umbrella with this latch, it should also work in my adapter, just like the factory.

Based on the dimensions the R5 will also fit a 2011 242. Mount will be in the mail today from Slide. Does anyone have a link to a quality umbrella which will fit?

Slide,
Got my umbrella adapter setup on my new R3 this week. Worked like a charm. The adapter looks great. High quality finish and good weight to it. The umbrella snuggly slipped down into the adapter and clicked into place. Great work on designing these.

Hey footfury, thanks for coming out of the woodwork with that post. ….and with pictures too! Gorgeous umbrella set up. Glad to hear it worked out.

Feel free to start a new thread if you have the time ( or maybe your son is doing that in the pic :P ) on how you got into boating...particularly Cobalts. :D We love hearing the stories here....especially with pictures...which you do so well!

Welcome aboard mate!

Sounds great! I'm going to be setting up my website soon.. The more pics the better! Anybody who is following this thread with an R series -I'm down to 3 left in stock. I don't expect to have any time to machine the next batch until the first week in May... Just saying. ;-)

Curious, where are you all stowing the umbrella when under way?
