Ok, so with the Sony MEX-M100BT, for those that have ran a separate 12 gauge power cable and ground, how did you actually do it? The harness on the Sony has the weak little 18 g wire and you would need to connect that to the battery switch. Solder and shrink?

Second questions is will the unit still only turn on with the key switch in accessory position doing it that way?
