One of the few times the Cobalt part is the cheaper option! 😆

By the way.. I forgot to mention on here that the boat got wet a few weeks ago -- I think two weeks ago yesterday.. I took it to the local lake (Lake Castaic) here in LA County and got there just over 60 minutes before the lake closed (they close the lake at sunset). This is the first time the boat has touched water in about 15 months. Needless to say, I took a friend with me and yes we put the drain plug in before launching it.

We ran around the lake til the sun set and we had to leave.. We had an issue getting the newly installed bunks to behave on the trailer as the boat wanted to sit on top.. as the aluminum tubing as part of my bunk add-on kit is just plain too short.. I'll have to get something different to fix that issue.

Anyway, the boat ran like a champ and had no issues whatsoever and when I pulled the plug there was ZERO water inside.. That was a blessing I didn't expect to see... Hopefully I can take it out another 2-3x before it starts getting really cold ....

The next task is to re-do the side panels on the passenger side with new vinyl and USB plugs + LED lighting, install the new passenger double-seat and then I can move on to other things like getting some replacement foam and try my budding skills with re-doing some seating...

I did some searching through the forum, and hope that this one is more related to my 1982's 19BR issue. I bought it a few weeks ago and knew there was a shifting issue then. It wouldn't go into reverse. The tech adjusted the cables, and everything was fine (CW and CCW checks). We took it out on the water, and the trans wouldn't go into forward. We had to shut down the engine to get it out of gear. Back to the shop we went. New cables were installed and did more adjusting and all went right. Took it back to the lake, and now it didn't disengage the gears to go into forward nor reverse. The interrupt switch spring was pretty worn, so we bought a new switch and installed it. All worked fine on the muffs again. But, at the lake, the engine completely shut down when going into reverse from neutral. If put into forward on start-up, the gears wouldn't disengage. The tech suspects that there's something up with the throttle assembly at the helm. Gear oil is good. New interrupter. New cables. RPM seems to be okay. Before I buy a throttle assembly, are there any lower cost ideas to look at so I can go FNRNF without shutting down the engine? Your thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Did you check the wiring to the interrupt switch?

Just had the same symptoms. Fixed the wiring (and adjusted the linkage) and all's well.

BTW, you can get a false positive when testing just with muffs.

Hi, Kate. I figured that the false positive was a possibility given the pressures are different. I'll test the wiring. Thanks for your suggestion.

Gremlins have got me and my mechanic stumped. Just replaced the throttle assembly, and still the engine cuts out completely when shifting from R to N. F to N works as it should. New interrupt switch put on. New throttle and cables put in, too. The mech says that the idle is fine, but I've not checked it myself. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'd appreciate sharing any experience you may have had with it.
