Cobalt will not allow it. Said it would set a precedent for others wanting to do, so no point in others trying to call or modify. Realize I probably shouldn't have posted anything about it. I'll enjoy my bright LED's, they are alot cheaper too!
We are calling as well. Truth is, I look at it the other way. While the new ones are nice because they are LED out-of-the-box, it's becoming clear that perhaps the "old" ones are preferable. They need to hear that.
I'm assuming the new ones are probably easier to install for the factory, use less power (smaller gauge wiring / no relays /etc), and are cheaper.

I agree they are cheaper for them. They don't care about the size of the hole they have to cut. The wire size I'm sure is the same as I looked at my wire harness they don't really change the guage at all throughout the whole boat.
But if enough owners complain they may listen? Or make a option. It also depends on the supplier. We don't know their standing relationship with them.

Again buy the other ones and get the big bad hole cut in there.
BBP,
When you buy my boat in 5 years, it's all yours to cut into the hull..Me..I'll pass..
Yeah, I hear that. I would also pass. There is a degree of comfort that the factory installers provide. There is a degree to discomfort knowing someone else is cutting holes in your new boat.
As far as a SS option, I’m guessing they will probably not go that route. Once corporate makes up their mind, fugataboutit..

Haha Nauti it's mine
I guess I'll take it 5 years after you so that works for my. 10 year plan...

I can't believe I am typing this, but if Katie ever gets her R7 I would have a single rear wheel F350 /w all the options and the power stroke. It's crazy how fast the payload capacity in the F250 gets chewed up when you add things like the sunroof and heated nice seats. Grab the 350 get the extra payload and nice towing capacity. Cry once right?

Right no way she figures out the plan, I expect a text message from her any moment now saying "oh my god I saw what you posted on cobalt chat can we really have an R7 lololol".
For now the Ecoboost and the F150 and the 222 will be fine.
