So when setting it up, if you hold the toggle down, it goes to a screen where I believe you're setting the Keel offset. I've set that anywhere from 0 (default) to 3 or 4. It drastically changes the number on the gauge initially, but the readings never really change. If that makes sense.AsLan7 wrote: Tue Jul 28, 2020 1:50 pm.kbloom72 wrote: Tue Jul 28, 2020 1:43 pmFunny you ask AsLan7! This spring I replaced it with a new, but the same model transponder. It is still not accurate. I have found a few adjustments to make at the gauge, but I've pretty much given up on it. I don't understand why it's so difficult. Where I boat it's very shallow so it's something I'd love to have working.
Hmmmm
Ours is only inaccurate when we are around weeds or sea grass in the bay where the depth sounder can’t get a solid ping to return.
Other than that it’s been accurate after the top off of antifreeze fluid.
Sometimes if aeration is happening below the transducer or its shooting thru air spaces (like a honeycomb structure) it will read inaccurately.

Yes, that makes perfect sense.
I posted the Faria depth sounder manual awhile back here that discusses the keel offset and other functions.
Do you have access to that?

Re: Depth Finder not working
I do have access to it and have actually reviewed the keel offset a few times. I may just be confused.

Re: Depth Finder not working
Well just because this is a depth finder thread. Most use it not to hit something right? Well how safe do you feel in 30ft of water and how safe do you feel in say 4 feet of water. Well we were coved out this weekend on TRL in 30 ft of water. Then this cool rare 27ft boat went by us at nowake and his boat listed heavily to the starboard side. The captain goes I think I hit a tree and kept on going like nothing happened. Lol
We look and yep a tree trunk was about 8 inches below the water level. So like good boaters we are we marked I with a bright orange floaty that was on shore. So I hate to say it you just never know. I could see us tubing and wakeboarding back there when no one would be back there and that could have been ugly if someone fell off or the boat just hits it. Ok done.
I'll take my 4ft of dirty water.

Am pretty much in the “same” boat. Could you share what the part number off the new transducer you bought to replace the old one? Mine is a non screw off.kbloom72 wrote: Tue Jul 28, 2020 1:42 pm Funny you ask AsLan7! This spring I replaced it with a new, but the same model transponder. It is still not accurate.
