I'm so tempted to mount a pair of down riggers on either side of my boat and a bass fishing seat to my rear deck just so I can see some of your damn fool heads explode.

P.S. Theres a plastic protector on those hooks and this is basically the actual point of this thread, where to place rod holders so we real men and women of the water don't have to lean our fishing rods on the seats.

I say you mount one like this to your rear deck.

As for leaning poles on seats when not in use. Couldn't you convert the ski locker to a rod locker ?

"Real Men and women" buy a boat suited for fishing. Center console or a Bayliner. You know....something you don't give a shit about. Cobalts are too nice to fish from and for that matter they really are not a good fishing platform just due to their design.

Used to salmon fish every weekend and one day realized I was bored out of my mind. The only enjoyable part of the day for me was the boat ride. Haven' dropped a line in the water in over 40 years and doubt I ever will again. Just not for me. If that makes me not a "Real Man" I guess I'll just have to live with it.

Okay Mr Hahn. I had to zoom into your pic to see what B was talking about with the treble hooks. Holy crap that's a beautiful lake! The backdrop is GORGEOUS! Tell us again what lake you boat on?

And hey, it's your boat. If you want to fish off of it that's your call. If I wanted to build a fire in the floor of mine... I guess I own that sucker so I should be able to do as whatever I want to do with it, right? Fish on, brutha!

Nola, I wouldn't fish from my Cobalt either. But if he wants to fill that summbitch up with water and fill it full of minnows I reckon that's his call. But aside from all that... Go zoom on that picture. That's a fine looking lake!

Fishing.

I am an avid angler (or I used to be before I had so many friggin kids). I don't fish from the Cobalt. Fish blood and scales aren't conducive to my mental health on this boat.

That's why meticulously restored the Whaler. So I can fish and not give a hit about what happens inside of it.

Looks guys, you don't want to fish no problem. I didn't buy my Cobalt as a fishing boat, I purchased it because it takes a big boat to safely cross places I visit like Lake Powell and Flaming Gorge, and my wife is very comfortable in this 232. Still, it's a lot of fun and quite relaxing to drop anchor and sit on the rear bench with my feet on the swim deck and toss a line around. The fish never even have to enter the boat, many fish get tossed back while a select few of their tasty friends get tossed into a small cooler sitting next to my feet on the swim deck.

In general, If you want to come in our fishing specific threads and make jokes I personally don't care, but please try not to get all bitchy and butt hurt like Nola here when we throw jokes right back at you. And please try not to completely derail our threads in the process of having fun. I'm still somewhat new and I like how laid back this forum usually is, so no hard feelings Nola and hopefully you can let it go.

Couldn't agree more on what someone else does with their boat. I always busted my ass to make my boats loot spotless. Bringing a fish on board....other than right off the grill, is not something I would do. And as I said, fishing bores me. Or I guess I should say, catching a fish is OK....waiting to catch said fish is boring. IMHO....
