Stern Umbrella options for my 282?
Re: Stern Umbrella options for my 282?
So looking in the platform there are 2 built in flat cushions.
. .
I don’t have snap gauges smaller that 3 “ so I made one.
. .
And with the tube being 2.0 this reading shows me snug but secure. This measurement is the 1of 2 rubber inserts.

So back to my prototype with orings to make the OD snug. A true 2.0 would be perfect. I’m using orings to bridge the difference.
. .
The length I started with was 24 “ but the top I added for thumb screws brings it just under 25”
. .
With the tube in. I lowered the awning 6 inches and yes it contacts to cam . Not certain on long term effects a floor or stop would be a good add.
. .
So there you have it pal. The umbrella version . The Fishing off my Cobalt version.. the Big mo grill version.
I’m excited to see your custom version! I’ll retire the prototype

Ok, 4 protos - machining done. I'll weld the cross bars tomorrow and hopefully off to the plater on Monday.

Re: Stern Umbrella options for my 282?
Matt - sorry for hijacking your thread...
Parts were dropped off that the plater this morning. I'm told they'll likely be finished by Wednesday. Due to the electroless nickel plating costs, price for these is the same as the stainless units for the R series. $250 shipped.
I was going to post this offer to buyers of these 4 protos:
- If it for some reason it doesn't fit/work - then I fix it and roundtrip shipping costs are on me
- If it works, but for any reason you don't like it, you can return it for full refund - you just cover return shipping
- If you send me install pics with it on the boat with an umbrella and post an honest review here or on the FB group page within 2 weeks of receiving it, I'll refund $20
Anybody interested, PM me.
(Thanks Matt)

I think this may be the umbrella for me. Double wind relief, right color, and 1.5" pole. Looks well made and has good reviews for high wind.
Do you think 10' is too big for the 282 with the SS arch bimini?
