I think Cobalt thought a high quality build in a lake pontoon would carry them in the same way as their boats.
My dealer never ordered a single Marker One. They seem to sell Bennington like chocolate chip cookies. In that catagory, it’s about price I guess. And I guess a Bennington has a good rep in that catagory. Matt, you were probably the only one actually looking at the sub floor, instead of the carpet.

The price of a Bennington/Harris is almost hysterical. Lots of profit built into that number.

I’m actually sandwiched in between 2 Harris toons on my dock. And yes a fully decked out Harris is right up there with an R series cobalt in price. It’s ridiculous

I see a lot of the high end Harris and Bennington pontoons our our lake. Harris uses marine grade plywood for their deck and we all know how that turns out a decade or so later. It is amazing how much they are getting for the “luxury” pontoons, many of them that sell for over $90k and I saw a few pontoons last summer on our lake with twin 300 Verados that likely set their owners back $140K plus!

Yeah, not from this guy, and not 1/3 of that. Actually, not a single cent..
Enjoy your Marker One, and keep it under your ownership. You may never see a toon built with that level of quality ever again..

That boat is an aluminum base with marine plywood over it. Certainly will extend the life of the flooring, but any wood construction in a boat will eventually rot.

Lol, love all the comments about the plywood and how hideous all pontoons look compared to a real watercraft. When I bought our Marker One 2 years ago my wife was a bit puzzled why we needed another boat and I had to educate her on on how ugly the Marker One is even though it is made by Cobalt. I’m happy to say there is no plywood on my Marker One but it still looks like a Pontiac Aztek!

Bum - you get a 'toon pass as you already own another Cobalt. I'd love to have a Living Room on the water for the dusk cruise.

Lol, thanks! I do love the Marker One and would have never bought it if wasn't made by our friends in Neodesha. It's so damn wide, roomy, and solid that it definitely the preferred boat for a dinner/sunset/party cruise. We feel fortunate to have it parked alongside the R5 and last summer both boats were being used at the same time on many occasions. My son's college is only 180 miles south of our lake home and his buddies are starting to figure out that it's a fun place to hang out. He was up there this weekend with his roommate, girlfriend, and another couple friends so I'm sure the keg is a little lighter! I can only imagine what this summer will be like with most of his friends within a 2-hour drive - beer and booze expenses will be up this summer but that is why we built it!

Think of how humiliating that must be for the guy in his 1980's Cigarette Top Gun sporting a gold rolex & party friends to get chased down and passed by an 80+MPH tritoon. Reminds me of the old 89turbominivan web site showing a dad in his woodgrain Chrysler minivan with a sleeper monster engine in it pulling up next to the red Corvette at the 1/4 mile track. It did not end well for the Vette or his ego.

Is it a playcraft? You can special order those with just about anything. The owner always enters his in the LOTO shootout and it does about 120mph lol

It may be, I'll have to ask when I see him. It's pretty nuts hearing a supercharged big block running dry headers and can only see a 26' toon idling by, lol. He's nuts too, it's been in the shop twice for crushed logs from wake jumping. Lifetime warranty on the logs so it's just down time for him.

Yikes...
A pontoon at anything over 40mph is not a good way to fly.. 80 mph and a cross wave? I want to be holding my camera on shore for that one..

The Verado 350 pushes my 5,900 lb. Marker One about 46-47 mph with a couple people in it- just fast enough to pass the high-end wake surf boats on our lake. I get some funny looks and often some thumbs up from all the teenagers when I pass them. None of the v-drive surf boats I've run across so far on our lake will hang with the R5 Surf at 49mph.

That's because any surf boat other than a Cobalt probably rides like a beet wagon.

Real tow boats aren't built for speed, they're stump puller designed to plow and still be able to cruise at a reasonable speed. Lack of trim makes them severely lacking in ride comfort at speed in anything but dead calm water. They throw a WAY better wake for surfing and wakboarding than any of the stern drive surf models hands down. Give and take, really depends on the how the boat us used. I didn't buy a wake boat because we do too much cruising, and the Chain is so shallow I'm not comfortable not being able to trim up when needed.

All they need a BBQ going with some dogs grilling.
