Fun Where did you purchase your boat? Lake Viking or the Harbor? Here at Table Rock there are 3 dealers that will sell boats. So don't know about other areas taking about restricted sell areas??? At least not here in MO.

it all comes down to your region. I can tell you 30-35% cannot be had in the region I am in on an R series.
I agree with you TG 30% can't be had Even though we have more than one dealer that will sell to Table Rock Lake boaters.

The number is slightly north of 40%
All other boats are roughly the same mark up.
I get the TR area and obvious dealer collusion. I am sure they figured out a plan long ago, and don't want to fight it out where no one makes a living.
That's a tough luck area to have to buy in.

I'd say my area is also tough luck - in that there is another dealer within 500 miles of me.

I’m in a good spot for sure. After this year, I may reassess my boats potential resale in the country and buy a new R8 if my dealer wants to sell one.
Twins please...

In my area, not so easy to sell a late model used boat - even a 10 series. I found that out when I listed my boat in the spring. I ended up trading it and my dealer still has it in inventory, which means it likely won't sell until next season (spring). I hope you have better luck.

I just got a bulk mailing from my local dealer (that has no competition) offering up to 27% on in stock boats (see below).
You must be steadfast if you want to save money. You must be willing to “lose your dream boat”. It takes serious discipline, some skill, and patience, but the deals are out there. It’s getting close to the best time of year to buy.
For R purchasers, I’m thinking once the R6 is announced, 2019 in stock R5s will be available well above 30%. Might be slim pickings. We chose to order a 2020 R5 and got a discount in the high 20s. May be regretting not waiting on the R6 as I am definitely most happy with the latest and greatest...

We saw the Cobalt mailer in our area but it didn’t show an “up to 27%” discount banner. I wonder which boat they have in stock with 27% off?

Haha, so true.
Lessons I learned in high school from my best friends father who was a car dealer.. “Never fall in love with a car when you buy” thus, I haven’t ever taken a test ride. Mostly because a salesman tries to disarm you with emotion first. Removing that tool from their tool box disarms them.
Love can cost a ton of money. I’d rather spend it on my wife.

While I love how this thread has turned into the I’m the best negotiator because I got xx% off. There are more factors to purchasing than the up front purchase. Especially since boats are usually kept for 10 years or more. I probably could have saved myself a few points by finding a dealer out of state to sell me a boat. But then I’m hauling it all the way back to them for a warranty claim. I think that is something the OP should consider. I bought mine from the place I actually keep my boat at. I love the fact I can call them when I’m away for the week and have them service my boat and it’s back on my lift before I even get back to town. And I seem to get in for service a lot faster than Johnny off the street. Little things like that made it all worth while to me.

I'm wondering what type of discounts I should be getting on a 2020 R5.
Retail for the boat is $160.689, right off the bat the dealer gave me a price of $135,937 & an additional $1500 off for the End of Summer Cobalt sale. Should I be asking for more off? If so how much?
They are also including
Bottom paint
Coast guard Pack
Full Detail
Full tank of gas
5 hours of lessons
Outdrive paint
Rigging
Should I ask for any toys?
Im wrapping this up on Tuesday, I want to make sure I get the best possible deal
Thanks!!
It’s tuesday what happened?

Last year Cobalt had a $5000 discount on all boats ordered in November. That’s their slowest month for sales.
