Not sure why. I think it gives it a A Series look. I like it. The tiny docking lights need to go. That Malibu trailer needs to go

What's this handle for. It's in a odd spot.
To rub against the back of your legs when you're sitting there? Kidding aside I suspect its a grab handle to help stay in place when the water gets rough?
Yes and also to hold on to when getting a cold beer out of the cooler... I assume that is still the cooler.
No I think they forgot about the cooler. #BlameBu!!

Couple things that haven't been mentioned, that gray marine mat is a HUGE step up from previous. The extra design and glue down rather than snap down. Maybe they have already rolled this option out to other boats but I had to install after market because it wasn't an option in my 2019.
The Rockford fosgate radio remote on the console is definitely an upgrade, the ones on the current R's is one of the cheapest option from RF.

Yes I very much dislike the rf remotes in the r series. I have that on the list of things I will replace once factory warranty has expired.

I do like the looks of the stereo on the dash. Is it me or did Cobalt switch to Infinity? That sure looks similar to a
KAPPRV515 marine receiver (without camera function)
Curious...what don't you like about your current RF remotes NB & TG98?

Does anyone know when the R4โs are going to start making an appearance? Will it be this summer?

I highly doubt it, probably next summer at the earliest.

I feel like the 10" screens simply make the dash too big, and look bad with the huge black plastic panels visible when used with the apparently stock 7". Too bad they couldn't make the dash a bit smaller and pick a single size that's eight or nine inches.
Maybe they could change materials to get rid of that shiny black dash surround as a start...

For the cost of that boat they should have a custom display, not two off the shelf units mounted into the flat black panel. Honestly looks like something someone did to upgrade what should have been a more traditional gauge layout.

I agree but I'd be looking to do a carbon fibre (or other appropriate design) "wrap" on that piece to improve the appearance. the whole setup just looks a bit "off" to me in the pictures. Another thing is the tower, which from the picture of the red hull posted here - looks to be leaning way forward compared to the current design. It just looks a bit odd to me. Again, until one sees the boat in person, its hard to know how everything really looks.

I think my glass cockpit R3 looks good. On the R6, the dash just seems to reach up too high and there is a massive amount of unused real estate with the Garmin 7607 units. I have no doubt most buyers will not like the look an opt for the 10" units - which on a boat of this size aren't necessary unless you navigate unfamiliar waters regularly (which most boaters don't). Anyway, Cobalt will get the option "upsell" because the smaller units don't look very good.

Cobalt has had a ton of issues with the model RF units they go with. My entire receiver has already been replaced and I know a lot others have been as well. Like Norris said Cobalt uses the lower end unit so maybe a little higher model would produce better reliability?
I think the 10in garmins on the Current R30/35 and the A-series looks good. I agree with most that the 10in screens on the smaller boats looks a little tacky. I love my glass dash with the 7607's on the R7.

My guess is the R6 will run as a 21 model. Then the 4 and 8 will get introduced at the miami boat show in Feb and run as a 22 model. I could be very wrong but if you look at past trends that is what they like to do. The R5 was introduced in 2013 and then the 3 and 7 followed in 14

R6 is first, then R8, then R4. If memory serves, the R4 won't be introduced until summer 2021 with sales starting after that. Things may have changed since I received the information in March 2019.

Same thoughts except I like the one big hole compartment on my R7 because thatโs where I store my boards
Maybe there is one single storage locker with 3 access points? Just yesterday I was crawling into mine to retrieve a fender that got pushed forward when we put water skis back in the locker.
