No, San Diego CL - took me a while to get ahold of the guy but I jumped on it!
I'm sure it's the same boat. Why waste time putting another axle under it. Just use it. But yes do the bearings. Make sure that transom is strapped down when towing it. I didn't look at the bow.
Yeah I definitely wouldn't waste time on this, and I'd also invest in a set of the stops to put on the Ram's when towing, or at least run a strap under the drive to take the weight off of it while in tow.

Also, may sound like boating 101, but make sure you raise the drive all the way up before pulling it out of the water on the ramp
