Yes, as maybe the Panasonic is not made in China.

Can you share the location of the relays in your R5? I have a 2018 with the exact same issue, but for the life of me I can’t find the relays. I know from your post what I’m looking for, but can’t find them. Any help would be appreciated.

Can't easily take a pic, but if you look up under the helm/dash area, they are pretty easy to see on my boat.

Ha! I have this same problem with my Lotus. The builders foolishly decided to use British relays for the door lock/unlock circuit, so I'm waiting for Siemens equivalents from Germany so I can use the car again...

This is good information. My Garmins have been hit or miss for a couple of years. My dealer “fixed” them last Summer, but my issues have returned. Issues include same as described in this post and sometimes they’re on but I get no data or partial data. They will usually work when I drop her from the lift at the beginning of the day but will crap out in various forms over the course of the day

I successfully located the relay (thanks Greenhut!!). I read somewhere that there are two relays? I located the one, but didn’t find another. Any truth to the rumor of multiple relays for the Garmin (one per screen maybe?)? Love all of the help. Very much appreciated!

One is for both Garmins. The other relay I think is for Underwater lights.

There are two on my R5 in that location, one above the other. Only one is for the Garmin. Not sure what the other controls, I do not have underwater lights. There are two additional relays behind the starboard bow compartment wall on the NMEA2K board. One controls the EasyConnect, not sure about the other. Since the remaining three have not failed (fingers crossed) I wonder if there is too much current running through it from the two Garmins.

Thank you for the diagnosis -- this has started to happen on our 2020 R5 the last couple times out. I ordered the part from digikey today!

Relays were replaced, and I have not had a Garmin issue since. Thank you all.

Just started having the exact same issue on my 2019 R5 surf. Started happening today. Going to check the relays in the morning. Thank you all for the information. If I understand right, the relays are under the helm? And what website did you order the replacement relays from? Specific part number? Thanks guys

See one of my early posts for a picture. But yes, under helm. Try Digikey

Ok boys. Replaced the relay and no help. The screens are still intermittent. The screens aren’t failed, just somehow not getting power because my zero off cruise control isn’t lit up either. Assuming it gets power from the screens as well. Other than the relay, any other ideas before I take it to the shop?

Edit: checked the connections and the inline fuse and nothing…..I’m at a loss here.
