Before I ever started my 240 last spring I wrote the hours down. 297.7 and now it shows 391.1
But... When I winterized it last week I had the stereo playing while I worked. The last thing I did was take the batteries out, and then looked at the hour meter. I ran .7 hours up on the meter with just the radio on! Over the summer, we would go out and anchor with the stereo playing. So I'm not sure exactly how many hours I have on the motor...

With my battery of my bulge pump and rear trim control still works. Guess it matters how system is wired

I'll check mine one of these days. We don't listen to the music much when beached. So mine are pretty close either way.

.

AUTO Bilge pump should still work with battery switch off in case water flows into the bilge high enough to cause the float to activate the pump. Helm Switch should not be able to turn it on w/ batt switch off. I just tested mine by raising float manually with battery switch off. Pump turned on. No response from Helm switch. It's working correctly.

Many (if not most) owner's leave the key on "switched" to the right without the engine running causing the hour meter to tick away. Had our Merc ECM read via laptop and found hour meter high by 37 hours.

On the 260 series, if the key is switched to the left, the hour meter will not run while being able to use all accessories

I would like to wire my battery directly to the rear transom remote trim switch like yours AJc. It's nice to be able to raise and lower the outdrive without having to be concerned about the batt switch position. May do that in the spring. 8-)

A7 My key does turn to the left for accessories. Maybe it's the way it was all put back together last spring?

Ecm hours are usually what I look at..

Not taking away the ol state of the art Hobbs guage but some are wired in key on and key accessories position. And they can be disconnected with one simple screw.. ecm hours only calculates with tachometer function ( running)

If your ever purchasing a future boat.. always scann ecm and verify ecm mfg date and hours.. thats your true idle and run time.

A simple radio only toggle would solve a lot of engine hour issues.

Your 262 ignition switch is wired incorrectly, YTMSN.
I believe this is an easy fix for you. On the back of the ignition switch you will need to switch one of the wires to the other side of the switch. Probably just an oversight on their part with all the electronic work Mr Macdonald had done on that baby to light up his arches. 😎😜

I put about 40 hours on my '13 232 this year - the season got a late start due to lower than normal temps. I'm now up to around 275 hours. Not to mention I had a new ski and new girlfriend. The ski is a Yamaha GP 1800. It will hit 77.2 with a re-flash = scary but fun. But, towards the end of the season it started leaking water when at speed, and the last time out it started spraying out oil on the starboard inside hull. I have 5 years of warranty, but just don't want the hassle. Yamaha quality my butt!

I would get get fixed. Did the flash void the warranty? Yes it's been a rough summer for all I think. But you did pretty good.

Two burgers did you look to see what number member you were. Thanks for keeping it going as well :-)

Those wave runners are getting up there in speed,Chris! That’s hauling on the water.

They can be finicky. My sister-in-law is having issues with hers as well. You’re right, even under warranty it’s still a hassle for us.
