My front speaker cover on my 2001 262 seem to have been covered in a felt like material and it is in bad shape. Has anyone removed them and recovered them or removed them, cleaned off the material and painted them??
I have the same issue. I unscrewed both covers because the "spray-on material" was coming off. When I held them up together they were different sizes. I was able to easily scrap off the material by hand on one, but the other would not come off even with solvent. I'm considering having one digitally scanned and reproduced on a 3D printer, if the cost is reasonable.

Just the stock round with speakers. I think they have a dolphin on them. I don't have a picture.

Have to see how that turns out.. Ill want on the ground floor of the repro cover bizz!!
That Flock spray is flocking on there... except where it delaminates.
Razor blade... Sand paper. Its very very plastic! the good news is once covered your done and any remnants as long as its smooth will cover easy.

That's really up to you and your budget.
Those Sony speakers are terrible. Add a amp that will clean up the sound and get some wetsounds or JL and be happy. I love my Wetsounds revo6 the life it gets the better they sound. There's some good threads on here for stereos.I like treble so the titanium tweeter is nice. Kicker is more deeper more bass. I've yet to listen to JL but they are right up there.

I put Polk marine in my 240 and they are really good. In my 262 I have wet sounds and really like them too.

That is really So funny that a boat manufacture would install speakers like that wth!
Why would you put that grille on. Ok can you clean all that grime off the vinyl by the speaker? Just mount the speaker the way it should be. On the outside of the hole?

BB, I am going to try to clean the grime off. Unsure if you can get that speaker out the way it is installed without removing that whole piece around it. That is a huge U shape piece.
Can definitely remove the screws but still doubt that speaker with grill will pull through that hole
