Still have you 5 for sale?

Speaking to a friend who transitioned from R5 to R6, he, in general, preferred the R5 after some time in the R6. He felt the added weight of the R6 was not offset by additional room/features that would entice someone out of a R5. Having owned only the R5, I can say it is a pleasurable boat. One comment, and it may or may not apply, I would STRONGLY recommend the VP engines Post 2017 due to the easy flush system for winterization. Its a breeze. Simply pull a pin and push a lever and you have drained everything but the heat exchanger. Put a hose end on a funnel, and you've got an easy way to put a gallon or two of pink antifreeze in to resolve the heat exchanger worries (if you have them). It is just such an easy engine and why I chose them for the R30 as well. Good luck with the hunt.

I know you said you're looking at odd series Rs but I'm selling my 2022 R6 - has only 54 hours on it. May be worth a look.

Thanks, but we’ve definitely ruled out the even series. Good luck with your sale.

FWIW, the service manager at my dealer mentioned that the R6 has a much better ride than the R5.

Search officially ended today. Just 1100 miles to get it home. 2020 R7 exactly what we were looking for. Marinemax Nisswa, MN was great to deal with. Had it surveyed , with sea trial, and made the 1100 mile , one way, drive from NY. Boat had been completely detailed inside and out as part of deal. Looks awesome. Will be a long winter as I had them winterize it. 5 months of daily searching :D Thanks for the comments on my posts!

I have a 2024 R4 with the 300 hp VP on Lake Michigan. It is worlds better than my previous 2007 Chaparral 204 SSi (21 foot), especially in terms of how it handles a 1' to 2' choppy lake. The R4 is 2000 pounds heavier than the Chaparral! R4 vs R6: they are almost identical as to roominess and ride comfort, and the R6 has a head and a higher price tag. The salesmen actually talked me out of buying the "larger" and more expensive (more profitable for them) boat. Even vs odd series: both a salesman and a service manager independently told me that the newer boats handle choppy water much better. They said that the only way you could make a fair comparison was to drive both back-to-back like they did. I slightly prefer the rounded style of the older boats, but I bought the newer one. The initial cost is higher than buying used, but given the maintenance cost and resale value over time, the difference in total cost of ownership becomes insignificant.

Interesting , we looked at a new R6 and thought it looked cheap. Dealer we purchased r7 from said they have had a lot of “buyers remorse” from customers who traded In their odd series for newer even series cobalts.

Congrats. The odd R's are a great boat. If you are not into surfing it is the way to go. Did it come with trim tabs? If not I would recommend having a set installed. They come in very handy to offset the side to side load.

Thanks, no trim tabs but thinking about them. 95%of the time it’s only my wife and our golden aboard, and me😁

I don't have trim tabs on my R5 and never really had an occasion that I really needed them

I have that same Titan EOH brake unit that I installed. Only way to go is to have EOH and disc brakes.

BTW...nice garage!

I wish that was my garage! It’s the dealership’s :D
Will only be trailering it to put in in spring and take out in fall as it’s lift kept. Trailer tows awesome though and that braking system is sweet.
