You know I almost agree with you. 😀. It’s miserable working on a boat. You always seem to down in a hole. I’m not the biggest fellow at 5’9” 180 but I’m not 20 anymore. Plus every tool you need is just out of reach or not in the boat so it’s down n up the ladder again.

Yes. It is good exercise...and I lose 2-3 pounds working on mine in the summer heat. I’m not sure if that’s a benefit or a punishment.

My mechanic friend hadn’t replied by 1:30 so I called a boat mechanic another friend referred me to. He admitted he typically works on big boats and didn’t have a scanner but could borrow one.

I told him what it was doing and what I had done. He told me to pull the injectors and have them serviced.

So that’s what I plan to do. Just to see what would come out, I sprayed carb cleaner in the side where fuel enters the injector. This is what I dumped out of them. Two of them had much more crud than the others.

Where did you send them. Did you get a flow report before and after?

Local injector service recommended by the “big” boat mechanic.

No I didn’t know to ask for one. First time I’ve ever done this.

There was another thread on here about doing this in the 252 Boys recon threads. Good stuff. Yes get that info. If they don't have it or didn't do it then it was a disservice to you.

Injectors did not solve the problem.

Ok folks, I can bring this to a close.

After changing fuel filter, pumping out the tank, changing filter again, changing both low and high pressure pumps, having injectors serviced and buying a code reader.

Turns out my problem was Freaking spark plugs.

This road was curvy. It lead the prior owner, myself, two accomplished auto mechanics and one boat mechanic down the fuel issue road. Finally the last boat mechanic suggested changing the plugs.

I’ve never seen an engine run so good with no load need new spark plugs to run under load but this one did. If it had run poorly with no load I would have started with plugs.

Thanks to everyone who offered suggestions. On to the little things now.

Good to hear. Yes plugs act up under load. Glad the wild goose chase is done. Now go and enjoy it.

Based on the photos of your fuel, injectors, etc., I don't think the work you did in those areas was exactly time wasted. Glad you got it sorted out, and you're back at full speed!

Speaking of speed, how fast should I expect gt his thing to run with f7 prop set? Tach not working so I don’t know what it turns.

GPS on phone said 49 with me trimming it up a bit at a time. I was on a 200 acre lake with 3-4 other boats so there wasn’t a lot of room to stretch out and play with trim and trim tabs.

I read a boat review from back in the day that reported 55-56.
