Anything else you would suggest they check on this Merc based upon your wisdom and knowledge gained throughout the years?

Yes...recent impeller and Tstat change complete.
Hoping debris clean-out will do the trick.
If there is anything else that comes to mind, throw it in. They will cleanse and retest Monday.

Did you see the old impeller? Was it in one piece. Chunks come off and get stuck in some of the coolers. Hopefully it was one piece. And it's just weeds.

Gerry said it was more of a gravel issue they saw when they scoped. Impeller was in good shape.

Well wifeee and I just got back from transferring the 263 boat & trailer title's into our names and obtaining the license plate from the local notary. Very exciting until we had to write the $3,000 check for taxes and "fees". Ughhhh. It's a good thing this family boating is a passion of ours!

Very excited for you! Hey, life is short, and our time where kids stay "kids" is even shorter. Boating makes memories..

Well said, T.
I would not trade those memories for the world....and would spend the money (I've lost track of how much long ago) and do it all over again without hesitation. Great to see you (and I'm sure others here) feel the same. In good company my friend.
Now if I could just get that 263 here. Hoping for a good test run Monday and shipping ASAP.

Spoke with one of the marine tech's today at Gerry's marine who is working on the 263.
He said the overheat was caused by a blockage of the tube which runs from the outdrive thru the transom and into the engine. It was found to be partially blocked due to some corrosion (lot of calcium in Lake Meade) and debris. They replaced the entire tube. Normally the engine needs to be pulled but they were able to work it thru skillfully. The rest of the system looked good after they scoped it.
Also decided to have the bellows replaced as well. Test drive on Tuesday. Waiting with anticipation....

Yep for got you have a b3 very common for that piece to get plugged or cracked. Worse in salt water. Yes it's a b to get to.

Changing the bellows is the best insurance you can buy.
