Fun fact...I was the boater in this relationship...grew up on the water...owned my 190 cobalt for many years before getting married last year...when we decided it was time for an upgrade I only wanted another cobalt...my husband, who I introduced to the lake life, didn't really understand why until we started looking around...he now understands why I was a Cobalt snob! BTW my single girl boat was NautiGirl...he was nice enough to let me keep that theme with new boat...NautiGirl 2.0. Happy wife, happy life!

My grandfather's sail boat was named nautigirl.

My donzi was named Nautigirl

And the little phantom sailboat I used to race was named nautigirl.

My wife was the boat lover in my family.
She never boated in her life. She was also adopted, so maybe there were some mariner genes we don't know about.
She suggested a boat in 2002 when we bought out Chaparral.

My dealer introduced "me" to Cobalt. Never seen one before, and really didn't care one way or another.
I was simply looking to update our old hooptie.
I stopped, saw an R5 he had in stock..and then called my wife. She came, saw and told me I made a huge mistake calling her. That was basically it.
We went to the International boat show in Toronto, and she looked at nothing else. The embroidered "C" crest in the seats did it. Our last name begins with C.
I'm the shopper and deal maker.. I shop, and reallly saw nothing as nice.
I could have possibly been drawn a little to Formula, but that was a no go for her and my son.
We ordered the next day.

My wife has tried to talk me out of every boat I have ever purchased (including current one).

However, she would do every purchase the same as we did in the past based upon the memories made boating throughout our 27 year marriage --with each other and with the family.

I think we balance each other out extremely well. That and a strong faith with a sense of humor to boot is what will keep us going for many years to come--good Lord willing.

I'm a audit partner in a CPA firm downtown St. Louis. Grew up boating and learning to ski on Lake of the Ozarks back in the early 80s. Parents got divorced and sold the boat and lake house. The boat I remember was as yellow 21' celebrity bowrider. I remember the teak wood on that boat to this day. When my mom remarried they bought a 19' fourwinns and a camper, so we spent alot of time camping and boating on So IL lakes (Carlyle, Rend, Shelbyville, etc.). After we all got a little older they bought a 1986 34' Sundancer. I remember seeing that thing for the first time and was floored. Never been on a boat like that. It was so cool. Soon after that came a 1990 44' Sundancer. That boat was huge. They would stay on the boat when they went down. I was old enough to drink then and when I went down we'd do a little bar hopping, tie-up with other boats, etc. I used to follow behind them on the waverunner jumping those huge wakes. When your in your early 20s its a blast. Turns out though all that enjoyment jumping huge cruiser wakes on that wake cost me my spleen. I came down wrong from a jump and hit another competing wake and the jolt threw me over the waverunner and in the process ruptured my spleen. Spent a week in Lake Regional hospital. Now I prefer Table Rock, parents still have a place at Lake Ozarks and a new 42' sundancer but you cant teach kids to ski or tube or hell even get some wind in your face. Its one of those boats with the enclosed windshield....and it has F'n AC vents that blow into the cabin. The back of the cabin is still open air but I'm like WTF? why would anyone design a boat like this? Part of boating to me is feeling the wind on your face....the open air....On a really hot day its actually pretty miserable in that area of the boat.
