Hey, nice rig S5555533333000! :D

We looked at a few new (and used) Sequoias last week. Great towing machines when equipped like yours with air suspension. Surprised only the 7 passenger Platinum models have this installed by the factory. Otherwise the 8 passenger Limited model and other models require an aftermarket install. We do love the 7-8 passenger capability and fold flat rear seats. That gas mileage is a tough pill to swallow and she is a tank for the wife to drive. Can’t beat that Toyota reliability though.

We went in a slightly different direction and purchased a used smaller 7 pax SUV located in Texas that has a 7,500 pound tow rating with air suspension & 516 foot-pounds of torque. Unfortunately, gas mileage is not much better at only 15 mpg combined. Since our 2009 Aspen Hybrid is approaching 200,000 miles, it’s time to move on. Wish they still produced them. Amazing machine with an Allison transmission made by Mercedes.

In any event, deal is done and she is being shipped next week to PA. Pics to follow.

Actually the ratings are less on the new ones. It had the same engine and trans as in 2008 at 381hp and 401 torque. But since saej8207 standard were adopted, Toyota had to lowered it from 9100 in 2008 to 7400. No way I would tow 9100 with it but I’ve read many accounts of it doing it well with the right hitch. I still get 12 when towing, 16.5 in mixed and 18.5-20 highway. Not bad for 10 year old tech. Plus it’s the 3rd vehicle so it only sees about 4-5k per year. If Toyota’s really go 250k, I’ll loose my license before the truck is worn out. Maybe I can sell the boat and truck as a combo to BBP someday

I worry he’d put a 5” stinger exhaust tip on it and call it “ The gold dragon.”

Your right as true life tow rating guidelines have changed, and the old flat road specs have gone. Still pretty impressive overall . I’m not allowed to like them.

Never understood that commercial. Me and 3 friends could push a B52, which is heavier than the space shuttle. I'm thinking a Kia Sportage could pull the shuttle.

Your right. I think it was geared at Americanizing their brand. Maybe GM can do commercial pulling Japans Bullet train with Duramax.
