Actually the ratings are less on the new ones. It had the same engine and trans as in 2008 at 381hp and 401 torque. But since saej8207 standard were adopted, Toyota had to lowered it from 9100 in 2008 to 7400. No way I would tow 9100 with it but I’ve read many accounts of it doing it well with the right hitch. I still get 12 when towing, 16.5 in mixed and 18.5-20 highway. Not bad for 10 year old tech. Plus it’s the 3rd vehicle so it only sees about 4-5k per year. If Toyota’s really go 250k, I’ll loose my license before the truck is worn out. Your right as true life tow rating guidelines have changed,and the old flat road specs have gone. Still pretty impressive overall . I’m not allowed to like them.

Never understood that commercial. Me and 3 friends could push a B52, which is heavier than the space shuttle.
