My wife has always love Range Rovers and with the new R5 Surf we needed a tow vehicle. We wound up with a Range Rover with the TD6 engine. 7,740 towing capacity, 443 ft/lbs of torque at 1700 rpm’s and we are averaging 25 mpg in mixed driving. I may pull the R5 all the way to Florida for the winter next year.
Hey that’s not bad MLB!
Will it seat eight and does it have fold flat third row seats?

The RR does not have a 3rd row seat but Land Rover does make vehicles that do. I drove home at 75-80 mph last night in the Rover and averaged 28.1 mpg over the 138 miles. With a 21 gallon tank we don’t have to stop for fuel often!
The TD6 engine that is in our RR is an option on the F150’s this year. With a beefier transmission Ford rates it as a 11,400 lb. towing capacity.

That’s great info MLB. I’ll have to check out the new RR’s.
We definitely need three rows with fold flats.
...and that’s the fuel economy w/ a 9,000 pound min tow rating for which we are searching.

A7 it may be hard to find a 9,000 lb tow rating? I looked at Lexus LX 570 and Toyota Land Cruiser, 8 passenger SUV with an 8,000 lb capacity.
Those Toyotas are hard to beat...

They sure are, YT....just wish they had fold flat rear seats (not those flip to the side ones) & could get 22-24 mpg vs teens.
Btw, Prius pic made me laugh...almost looks like it's hooked up to your trailer.

I think Ford Expedition has a 9200 tow max. What is your 263 weigh loaded up on trailer with fuel etc?

Thx AJC....that's the closest option we found. It's just too much of a behemoth and the wife poo pooed it. The 7 pax GL550 is the size we prefer (much like the Aspen). My brother's Armada is a tank...just too big for us. I'm a big fan of V8 torque but it is amazing what the Eco-boost sixes are putting out.
Range Rover size is nice... just not 7-8 pax seating.
New Aviator may be a possibility. We are exploring our options. Wish the Merc had 8 pax seating and a better CR reliability rating.

I have not weighed the 263 yet.
When we used the Certified truck scale to weigh our 262 it came in at 7,140 pounds.
