Yes - it is what supplies power to the voltage regulator - goes back to dash, through switch and eventually to the battery.

and does that leave Yellow/Black pair to connect to the....battery?

No! These go t to the UW light. There is decent documentation that comes with the light and explains where the wires go.

Greenhut, hey, does the 8000 lumen light pull a lot of power from the batteries? Should I be concerned with using it while engine is off? I know there's no issue with engine running.

Thanks for all the info, definitely enough to do this safely and reasonably quickly. I located my starboard underwater connector this weekend exactly where you show your mounting location. Couldn't find the port connector, but no worries since starboard will work just as easily. I ordered light and Deutsch connectors this weekend.

Best part - I found a source with a Deutsch connector set and tool that will install and crimp it for me.

Great news on a local Deutsch supplier/crimper!

I don't know the power draw of the 8000 series lights, and didnt see it on the site, but I had the same concern, so did this:

8000 series light draws 5A @12V.

For reference: Assuming you have something like a Deka Marine Master M7, it can handle 130 min @25A and still crank the boat. Theres some electrical law that says things arent linear, but this would imply something like 650 minutes @ 5A (although this sounds high to me!). Plus this load isnt on your starting battery....

 Loved this thread. Might consider it myself, but I'm taller, heavier, and older than Greenhut.

Ahahaha excellent. Someone has to be! Really not that bad - as long as it isnt blistering hot and you can take your time.

Diablo Royale just shipped my plug light. Already have the connectors. Maybe I get to work on it this coming weekend.

Between greenhut's pics and discussion plus the instructions with the light, this is straightforward if you have capability to install that Deutsch connector and connect to the port or starboard underwater light's male Deutsch connector (labeled and part of the harness on the inside transom). Red and black to the harness, yellow and brown to the light. Follow Diablo Royale Customs instructions and remember not to turn this light on unless its being cooled by water.

greenhut wrote: Wed Jun 03, 2020 8:54 pm Oh - didn’t need both port and starboard. Apparently cobalt wires independently cause they have two fixtures on either side of transom.

And btw, noticed last night back lighting of left side dash switched not working. We’re last year - sounds like a common failure. Will have a look before asking dealer as it may be a simple bulb, fuse, or connection.
I have to ask did you get this fixed yet or do you keep moving the wires to the other side so you can see What your turning on? By the way I still have my label maker and now I bought a flashlight! 😂😂🔦

Gahhhhhh! Still need to get the part! I should call Cobalt, right?

Seriously is on my list to contact the dealer about though...

Honestly I would call your dealer first.😂😂😂📞
I'm sure you have a great relationship with your dealer!
I even think there was another thread in here that showed the part that goes bad.

Found it. Just so you all can call your dealer and not have to call the factory.

Simple job I managed to screw up... Did my Deutch connector backwards and when I hit the switch it came on (switch light) for a second and then went out. First question are these switches fused? If so where? Noticed that my Interior lights do not work, same deal the switch does not illuminate when I hit it.
