The guys I am having replace my speakers say that the Cobalt wiring needs to be replaced. Not big enough or good enough quality according to them.
Don't know if that is actually the case or if they are just selling me some extra stuff, but they do a lot of Cobalt boats are are familiar with the system.

ok.. i will rewire while i am at it. I just found that I can buy speakerwire with RGB wire and pull it one time to replace all.. so that won't be bad at all.

BB, did you pull out the factory speaker wire while you were running the new or did you just leave it there? I was debating trying to use it to pull the new wire in.

They use regular electrical wire for speakers. I upgraded the guage and quality. I didn't see the rgb mixed with speakers. I'm not sure if I would buy the wire that way do to running them to different spots. On my boat I could get to the wiring loom holders so everything pretty much looks factory. Not sure if that will cause rf interference or not. Bfun may know more on that then me. The battery cable they prerun for amps is also on the light side. I don't push my system real hard or yes that would need to be upgraded also. Driller they are telling you the correct thing. They also mixmatch the wires and don't have good separation front to rear and so on. I left all of the factory wire there as I don't keep boats long and I'm cheap and I would pull the speakers and amp out and put the kenwoods back in with the factory wiring. Unless I get the right price then I would keep them in the boat. I look at as I save a grand for my next boat. I would just add it to my next boat. I won't own another boat without JL or WetSounds in it. Hope that helps.

Joann fabric sells speaker grille fabric.
We have used the black fabric to cover our home speakers.

I have 6- Revo6 coax speakers running on a HTX-6 amp. 10 inch revo sub and a pair of Rev8 tower speakers bridged in a second HTX-6 amp. The sound is phenomenal. As long as I have had it I think I’ve only turned it up over 40% output twice. The sound is so clear I have no complaints at all. I had an issue with the sub that they covered under warranty and sent me a new replacement without any issues. Let me know if you have any questions I can help you with.
The speakers are so powerful if you don’t have enough power behind them you can run into issues if the kids crank them up too much.
I wonder if I should run my 6 boat speakers with one of these amps and run a sub and tower speakers off the 4 channel amp I have now?

It depends on the tower speakers you get. The sub will need a bridge. The tower speakers may or may not. If the tower speakers need a bridge then run those and the sub bridged on a 6 channel. Then run 4 speakers off your 4 and the two bow speakers off the head unit.

I have the bow speakers off the head now and without a amp they don't sound as nice not are they as loud as they can be before distorting.

Have Drilller send you his 2 channel amp. Run your tower and bow off of it.
