Re: My Unicorn
Whew. I feel much better after a shower and scrubbing all that fiberglass off!
A7 the hardest part was bolting it down. I didn't know I could get my body into the fricken contortions I had to do!
So the day started out REally good. Great weather and mid 70's You can't imagine how many people asked "What's that?"
They always had a perplexing look that got worse when I told them it was a Unicorn and walked off. It was pretty amusing actually. I went over to my neighbors shop because he had a hoist. It was sloooow and tedious. I'd pick it up, test the balance and put it down.

Re: My Unicorn
I would get the balance right but it wasn't be high enough. Finally got that sorted out
Jrcramer made me templets. On BB's advice I duct taped the mounting area for drilling

Re: My Unicorn
Then down to business. It's VERY disconcerting drilling bigass holes in your boat.
Then I hit the steel plates. No need for reinforcement! It's already there.
Also, the bimini mounts had to come off. One of the screws was stripped so I had to get creative getting it off. A real pain. I had to remove some panels for access but once I did it was fairly easy to reach the bolts. That is if you're into tying yourself into a pretzel

Re: My Unicorn
Probably a couple hundred pounds if I had to guess. It's all spread out and awkward to handle

Re: My Unicorn
Dang Skippy. I would have hired it done!
I thought I had it high enough but lacked about 2 inches. Down (which took forever) and back up. Got it lined up and started the process of bolting it down.
That was by far the hardest part. Contort, wrench, go to the other side. I ran out of daylight so I quit. Still have the forks to bolt on and bimini to add. And some touch up work. But I think it's gonna turn out to be fine!

Re: My Unicorn
Looks amazing YT. Crazy you tackled it yourself. I would of had a crew to help or paid someone to do it. Can’t wait to see the finished product.
