So as you expected they looked at the ECU part number you sent them and tweeked it from there..... not realizing it was a mule ECU to be completely overwritten. Well now it all makes sense as the base settings are for what ever it came out of. You would have thought this would have been some important information prior. Geeze I hate lousy customer service like that.

Can you find an exact ECU for yours that is plug and play?? Part number to application (sell this one?) and if so I would then go forward with your mission.
If not. enjoy the awesome performance it has now with all the reliable perimeters the wonderful people at Mercury felt were the best. lol

Camshaft change and EMI thunder headers for winter project, or a MSD ignition change over if you just want to remove limiter and go with a 6M unit for added MPH is always a thought.

Finding an exact match is like finding hens teeth. Even finding an MEFI1 that fell in the right serial number range took months. What I don't get is how they handle the new ecu's they advertise on the page. If it's new, and you buy it from them, how can they flash it based on what they are telling me?

I'm going to talk to Mrs akor today and weigh the risks. I'm sure I'm being paranoid and sending the stock one would work out fine...I'm just not too happy with how I've been treated as a customer so far. I haven't even broached the subject of a refund yet. I'm not eating $500 for a bunk tune. If I can get a refund I'll cal AS&M and see what they can do with the mess Whipple left. Maybe they can help?

BTW, the cam and headers are on the list already, just not this year. :)

Well, I’ve been going back and forth with Whipple Cust service all day, not impressed. Best I got was they will pay return shipping...so both ecus are being overnighted there tomorrow, and I’m promised they will be hand walked through the calibration process and shipped back within 2 days. If that’s true I should have them back middle of next week. Pretty much my only option unless I want to eat $800...wish me luck.

That’s at least some promising urgency! They are the leader in supercharger tech and ability to have special agreements with Motorola and mercury for their infamous programming.

But.. I’m like you that once your people skills suck.. I stop spending and want to go away. At least it sounds like you got someone who is enthusiastic to your situation finally.

I’m sure it will be fine it’s just disappointing that you had to steer them in the right direction. I’m still betting 64mph.
Then a prop change so we can pick up our cruise speed!!

The good thing is now they will have a factory tune for the next guy when they copy it from yours. Yes they will put yours in it then lay there tune on top of it and you will be all good. Can't wait to her the report next weekend. I'll be in Minnesota next weekend so no Boating till maybe memorial day weekend. We shall see.

I know, which is why I feel they could have at least covered shipping both ways...Silver lining, timing is good since we can't use the boat for a couple weeks anyway.

Missed this, it was overnight there, and they had it overnight to me the following Monday. Got it installed today, passed the first test, it idles again. Sounds pretty mean, definitely more lope than before.

I didn't test the stock one, but they assured me they just pulled a copy of the stock calibration to flash the new one and tweak it.

Sounds nice. I think we need to go to the north and give Bob a ride. Lol
He'll get that 430 yet.
Do you have a before idle vid? These things do idle low. Still supprised about that.
Is this close enough to that request patriot?
