Have to wonder if the recent quality issues are related to the Malibu acquisition. First year transitions can be bumpy on things like that.

I don't think it has anything to do with malibu. They are getting to a new model change. So the molds are getting old too. But lots of toys should have been prevented at the dealership. I also wonder how long it takes a gel coat defect to show up. Maybe it's good at the factory and after it sits and gets to the dealer it pops up?akorcovelos wrote: Fri May 31, 2019 8:06 am Have to wonder if the recent quality issues are related to the Malibu acquisition. Could be old molds, though I'd expect they QC the molds on a regular basis as well, so still not a good reason for the defects being reported here. Even if the gel is getting damaged in shipping the dealers should catch it. There is zero reasons for some of what we've been seeing getting to the customer given how many touch points there are before delivery.Big Block Power wrote: Fri May 31, 2019 8:38 pmI don't think it has anything to do with malibu. Yes the molds do and should be getting checked. Yes the dealer should be looking at the boat at they're lot at time of delivery to them. So it's that getting done? Are these defects there at that time? Next the boat is washed and detailed before the customer gets it. It's it noticed then. Again the salesperson should be doing a once over before he calls or delivers it to the customer. So where is the breakdown. I say dealer.akorcovelos wrote: Mon Jun 03, 2019 12:52 pmCould be old molds, though I'd expect they QC the molds on a regular basis as well, so still not a good reason for the defects being reported here. The dime stops at the dealer, no doubt, but many of these issues could/should have been caught before it was ever loaded on a truck.Big Block Power wrote: Mon Jun 03, 2019 12:59 pmYes the molds do and should be getting checked. Yep. If they were there. That's what I want to know. I added a new member to the Jeep family last week. The plan for this one to be my daily driver and leave pretty much stock. I still have the old JK for playing in the rocks now that boating season is over.

Re: New Utah Member
I have a theory. I just wonder if they have a new team cleaning and waxing the molds? They are supposed to clean and wax every mold after a hull comes out, but maybe they're skipping a few steps? If the team leader has encouraged some sort of overlook or neglect, how many hulls get by? If it happens to slip by QC the hull will end up with issues. And how many issues come back before they discover the source of the problem? And you KNOW they're not going to disclose that source, just correct the problem. In the meantime...Big Block Power wrote: Mon Jun 03, 2019 1:10 pmYep. If they were there. That's what I want to know. I know on my own vehicles that I wash and wax all the time, I'll find a new ding or scratch and think "how did that get there?" Now imagine the mold of an R7. If it's not meticulously cleaned and waxed, there will be places. It just happens. Anyway, just a theory..

Very sharp Jeeper!
Our family has owned a quite a few jeeps over the years. Just so much fun. My dad used to race them back in the day. I've never done any hard core off-roading like you have though.
... Great colors on yours too.

I don’t think I will do much towing with it even though it is rated to pull over 7,000 pounds. I still have the F-350 that will do most of The towing.Bfun220 wrote: Mon Sep 23, 2019 8:47 amSweet. I have to take the R5 in for some warranty work I might try it that far just for fun.Big Block Power wrote: Mon Sep 23, 2019 6:20 am Very nice. She should pull the surf pretty well. Lol
I was looking at getting a F-150 for a daily driver and then started doing some research on resale values. My 2010 Wrangler that I paid $33,000 nine years ago still books at $24,000. My 2013 Explorer cost $40,000 and is now worth $15,000. I decided to take a chance that the Gladiator will hold it’s value similar to the Wrangler

Re: New Utah Member
I went on a road test today with a customer and almost died. Yep older jeep did the worst death wobble I've Ever felt. 70mph and the jeep decided to shake so bad and was jumping into the left lanes. Holy crap. The owner just bought it a week ago. Just about pooped his pants. This was at 4:30 rush hour.Jeeper wrote: Mon Sep 23, 2019 12:26 pmI have to take the R5 in for some warranty work I might try it that far just for fun.Big Block Power wrote: Mon Sep 23, 2019 6:20 am Very nice.
