My 262 with a 454 maxed out at 41mph on gps... does this sound correct? I thought it would be good for 50 or 55.

Several factors come into play Judd. Did you trim up? Was your Bimini Out? Full tank of gas? Several people on board or by yourself? Was the water smooth or choppy?

Trim was up, tabs were up, just me and the finacee, water wasnt rough but not smooth either. Over 3/4 tank of fuel. Rpm gauge no workie right now.

Rpm is important as it will dictate every thing.

Early 454 mpi where 1.5 ratio with 3 blade 17 or 19p
You should be 47-50 ish I would imagine with all system running right.

If it's a duo prop get the gear ratio and prop numbers. We can gauge its range

Let get that tach working next! Sounds like everything else went good!

It is a duo prop. Not sure how to determine pitch or gear ratio

You should be able to find the numbers on the props.

My 262 with a full tank of gas Bimini out and 2 passengers did 53mph. But I have a 496 vovlo duo prop

I'm assuming you have a merc. So on the side of the drive has the numbers stamped in a decal. The numbers are stamped on the prop between the blades.

Same with the Volvo, tag is on the engine and drive.

The tag is on the port side behind the trim ram. The prop numbers are engraved on the prop.
