Speedometer not working on my 232

I have a 2007 Cobalt 232 and my speedometer is not working. It does not have the traditional speedometer pickup on the back of the stern like many boats have and I can't find the pickup. Someone suggested it might be the gauge. Anyone have any thoughts on this issue?

Do you have merc or Volvo. And what drive? The b3 get the water pick up from a little hole in the drive that gets plugged. If you look halfup in the rear of the drive you will see a short section of a rubber hose. That hose is the speedo. You can try to back flush it. I also used a small drill bit at the entry of the drive. A small brake cleaner spray hose tube fits perfect to flush it also.

Also check the back of the gauge and make sure all connections are tight.
