Anyone know if the Sony Dsxm55bt simple head unit and Sony marine speakers is a simple plug and play, remotes work etc? My boat is a 2000 292 with Sony xplode system.Would like to make a simple upgrade to get Bluetooth and a usb plug in?

I can get you the model of my Sony head unit next weekend. My boat is a 2002 and the upgraded Sony unit I have works with the 2 factory remotes I have (transom and captain remote)

I can get you the model of my Sony head unit next weekend. My boat is a 2002 and the upgraded Sony unit I have works with the 2 factory remotes I have (transom and captain remote)

Grace your new one plugged right in? Most of the new ones are using a smaller plug in the back. Yes remotes work.
That's cool if it did keep the dance plug. I was hoping mine did when I switched but not a big deal.
If you have the factory speakers change them out right away. They've been sun baked and used for 18 years.
Plenty of inexpensive options that make a world of diff. Go kicket,polk,kenwood, jbl, clarion, wetsounds.JL ok those last 2 are not cheap but worth it.

I cannot comment to that. The previous owner upgraded the unit before I bought it.

But I can say my transom remote, and the one next to the steering wheel are the factory Sony ones.

Alot of guys have upgraded to the new Sony with 100 watts. They will tell you which model. I wish i would have had or saw that option when I switched.

Big Block, notice this doesn’t say marine? Still all good? Because I like the built in amp, do you happen to know if my 2000 wiring is the same as yours? Assume remotes work?

This is t555500000000000 stereo. I don't have that one. He will come in. Or Yt or A7. I think they all have the same stereo. I wouldn't worry about maybe radio unless it's in the open.

I replaced mine with this one and I needed to rewire the connector to the new unit (some easy soldering). Only remote is plug and play.
If you want to listen close to max volume you need to connect directly to battery using big cables (I used the OEM ones marked AMP - they were tucked in the rear before engine compartment). Otherwise the unit will shut down when you hit close to max volume.

I went with a Sony MEX-M71BT because was compatible with my remotes. But I dont think a marine unit is absolutely necessary unless you plan on getting a lot of water in the glovebox. Rain may be a factor though..

My biggest concern was making it work with the remotes and bluetooth. The PO installed my system but didn't put in bluetooth. I had to have it so switched them out. I already had 3000 amps (2000 for the speakers, 1000 for the sub) and it rocks pretty good! Not as good as gdane though. He has 5,000 and it'll blow the top off the dock with crystal clear sound!
