Stereo Replacement on 242

Anyone have experience replacing stereo unit, remote and speakers on a 242? Wondering if this is a do it yourself project or better to leave to the professionals?
Do it yourself. Some guys will reply with what they switched over too. How crazy do you want to get?

and hiring it done. I replaced all 6 speakers with Kicker 6.5" marine speakers and did a fusion head unit and fusion wired remote. If I had done it I wouldn't have done the hole in the fiberglass to mount the usb/3.5 jack which is very handy. I had no idea that amps have gotten so much smaller! The two eclipse amps we took out were huge and heavy but the replacement amp which is a 6 channel Arc Audio X2 is half the size of one of the others. But wow did the upgrade make a difference. He did end up pulling out 8 guage wiring and replacing with 4 guage as well. He charged about $800 in labor on the water and had me ready on Friday night. Came back Saturday just to walk me through everything and answer any questions. I'm very happy I listened to my wife. Hi Honey!
