First day on the lake

A recently became the owner on a 2000, 227. The boat sat for the last 5 years. It only has 57 hours on it. After fixing a few things the boat got wet today. Put a couple hours on it, exercised all its systems with no issues. Comes on and off the trailer pretty easy. No real complaints.

Couple questions? The gas tank was full and even though the gas doesn’t smell bad I wonder if it’s hurting the boats performance. It seems to labor to get up on plane. Once there it will run 51 mph at around 4100RPM. Prop is a 21 degree a Mirage. I was expecting it to come up on plane better. Thoughts?

Anybody dealt with 40 gallons of old gas? If so, how did you dispose of it. That’s a lot to run though a lawnmower.

If it doesn't smell bad it probably had stabilizer in it. I'd dump a bottle of Lucas in and run it but not hard. Just cruise around and put some hours on it. Get it down to a 1/4 or 1/2 a tank and add fresh premium. It won't take long and you'll be good to go.

When I get it out of the airplane hanger it’s in I’ll let you know. We’ve had so much rain I can’t get my truck into the field to get to the hanger. That’s what happens when you keep your boat in a farmers hanger! Maybe this weekend!
