Some performance charts

Post by DCLfan »

Here are some charts, of varying interest, from data gathered from my Cobalt 220S 6.2L 350hp ECT.

Fun chart.. 2650 for best mpg. .. 3000 for best cruise speed efficiency.. the struggle starts at 4000 as it appears like all of us with duoprops..

They get in the way.. thanks DCL!!

Love the stink eye chart!

My R5 gets 3 mpg at 3,000 rpm and about 2 mpg at 5,500. The fun factor is so much greater at 50 mph that I can’t resist running it full throttle at least 25% of the time! I get my marine fuel for $3.22 per gallon currently and have gone through 600 gallons in the last 6 weeks but if you really do the math, fuel is not the expensive part of boating.

My stink eye comes on much sooner, sometimes even as soon as start up if I leave the exhaust open.

Agreed. Though it is always fun to watch someone who isn’t a frequent boater that we’ve invited down for the day offer to pay for gas, and watch the numbers keep spinning. I let them pay for lunch instead. A buddy with a 43 footer on the river and a 400 gal tank has even more fun at this.

No doubt! I grew up on the St. Croix river that borders WI/MN and dumps into the Mississippi 20 miles south of
My hometown. I have many buddies with 40-50 foot cruisers that often will go through a couple thousand gallons of fuel during the summer.

We had friends at our lake home this weekend and we were happy to go through 120 gallons between the 2 boats and SeaDoos. Our guests were former boat owners and didn’t let us pay for a dinner or
lunch the entire weekend.

For the record, the MPH numbers in the above charts are GPS.
