I have a 2004 Cobalt 240 with extended swim platform. The boat came with a 2010 Venture aluminum trailer.

I am not sure if I am quite happy on how the boat sits on the rear bunks. The port side sits right on the edge of the first chime while the starboard seems to sit a bit more on the lower hull. Even if I try to pull it over during loading, it seems to slip back into this position as the bunks have seeming settled this way.

I would like to know if there are trailer guides/plans available from Cobalt that I could use to re-jig my bunks as necessary?

or

Is there someone on the forum with a factory trailer for a Cobalt 240 that could send me some pictures with measurements that I could reference?

Anyway, hopefully someone has some advice here to lend.

I have gotten my own answer. I called Cobalt and they sent me the trailer specifications for my year and all models of Cobalt boat. This is what they send to trailer manufacturers.

In regard to bunk placement, Rick Schoonover from Cobalt Boats stated "We only suggest you don’t have the strakes of the boat resting on the bunks."

So very important to have your boat sitting right as the hull gets a pounding going down the road.

As Boats center off on the strakes make sure the bunks slightly below where they start to taper.

Also make sure you can see the bunks flush with the transom in back or out 1-2 inches. Bunks under too fat will create a warp or hook in the hull.

Lastly look for air gaps on the bunks as the bow stop can shape the load weight as it rests. That adjustment is up and down. The forward and back will help where your rear bunks set to the transom.
