Greetings from Vermont

I am not a Cobalt owner, nor have I ever owned a boat. My sole experience is operating a Boston Whaler off the coast of Maine as a teenager (and I haven’t been a teenager in a long time). However, my wife suggested we get a boat as a way of taking mini-vacations. Traveling was always a treat for us, but we can no longer go out of town for longer than a night due to the needs of my 101-year-old mother.

I’ve been aware of Cobalt for a number of years, and we’ve considered the idea on and off since 2006. (I still have a 2006 Cobalt catalog that I look at from time to time.) Living near Lake Champlain, we certainly have a great place to own one. Now that we’re getting serious about it, I’ve been scanning the forum to become a little smarter about boats in general and Cobalts in particular.

We’d welcome a reality check on our assumptions, so I’ll post them under “Cobalt Boats General.”

Happy to be here.

Hey rick, thanks for the intro. So glad you found us!

I have that same catalog. Have you considered the 262?

...,and welcome aboard mate!

Thanks kindly. Funny you should mention the 262. Back when I first investigated Cobalt it was a very different time in my life, as I had school-aged kids at home who would have been water rats if circumstances allowed. At that time I was convinced that the 263 was the boat for me. Alas, nothing ever came of that, for better or worse.

I believe a 262/3 is still your best choice! But then I may be a bit biased.
