I'm looking to re-prop my 25', 1990 253 cuddie. It has the 7.4 Bravo I Merc. Anyone have an opinion on the Revolution 4 ss four blade prop in a 17 pitch on this boat or a comparable sized haul and power?

17”pitch seems pretty low with a 25’ boat powered by a 454. 330 horse?

What rpm’s are you turning at WOT? I believe the 7.4 330hp should turn 4200-4600 and the mag was 46-5000 rpm.

Read T5555555000000 boat thread. His is a 502 though. He Loves his prop. I was on it 2 weeks ago and it performs very well. I had it on my crownline and it was the best prop I ever used. He uses a 21p rev 4.
The mirage plus works good on that set up too. What are you using now though. Depends on your gear ratio and wot rpms too.

Standard issues was the mirage prop 14 3/4 x 21. Someone mentioned to me the 17 pitch Rev 4 four blade would be an option on that boat but it didn't sound quite right so I thought to throw the line out there and see if anyone had experience with the prop on that boat.

If your running 3 blade mirage that will give you max top speed as 3 blades are fast. But a 4 blade will have good bite and low slip numbers at cruise speeds.

Not worried about top speed anymore, just power out of hole and no cavitation on sharp turns. Interested if anyone has practical experience with that 4 blade ss in 17.

The extra blade and diameter will reduce turning cavatation or airing out ( you could just bump the trim down in turns)

The 17 will give you your best hole shot but I’d look at a 19” rev4 as your going to loose some cruise speed with a 17

If all you're worried about is hole shot and cruise speed look at a Mercury High 5 24p., it will transform your low-mid range performance, but you'll suffer up top by a good bit. I ran one on my 21br which was mostly used for wake boarding and it was perfect.

The 4 blade is loved on this site, I tried one and had mixed feelings, but I had a specific function I was going after (running just off plane) so I was being picky on a very narrow band of the power curve.

As already said, how do you use the boat? That will be the biggest driver in what prop to look at.

This boat is used for variety, cruise, skiing and tubing, limited wake board. Thanks for the info. Its always amazing the range or opinions regarding boats.....

I ran the rev 4 17p on my crownline 202 350 mag alpha drive. It was a stump puller. Best prop I ever used. I've used a bunch too on that boat. Most of the Crownline bits use that prop up to the 225 series. After that most of the boats above that are running a b3 drive.
