R30 Options

Post by Armitagemke »

Hello R30 owners:

Ordering a boat and want to know what options you absolutely love and why, and if there are any hints on aftermarket or other "essentials" you love using with your R30 (or other Cobalt boats).

Thanks!

So I am in the process of purchasing an R7 so I cannot help you on an R30 but here are the options I got.

VP 380hp
Dual Batteries with switch
battery charger
Trim Tabs
Premium Sound with transom speakers and remote
Sea Grass Carpet
pump out head ( I boat in southern missouri the flushable toilet would never get used)
Makarasar dash kit
Marine Mat on the swim platform
docking lights
transom LED lighting
flag pole with flag

If I was going to an R30. I'd want the hard top with rotating shade. Once again it gets hot in southern Missouri. I'd want twins with joystick control for ease of docking. I'd also want windlass. Because that is a heavy boat and anchoring could be tough.

Get colored stitching as the white is harder to cleanand shows everything! Black looks great.
Get the interior LEDs
Skip all floor options and do a custom Seadek or similar floor. Have them put the unattached flooring in boxes for delivery.
The joy stick is pricy, my dad has it on his twin engine whaler and it works GREAT in tight areas. So depending on where you are boating this could be fantastic.
Get the recessed Cobalt logo. Not only does it look better but it is easier to keep clean.
Skip the tonneau covers, keeps cleaner look (no snaps) and the morning cover is easy to put on. It is easy for dealer to add latter if you change your mind.

Yeah, I would do that also.
The VP package is far superior in technology and performance, but twins? Definitely. BB and a CC without question. Yeah it would be slower, heavier and drink a lot more fuel, but just the enjoyment of twin BBs singing away?
Oohhhh yeah...

I purchased a use 2017 R30 this winter.

Here's the options I have:

Twin 300s
Battery Maintainer / Charger
Bow Cushion Insert
Tonneau Cover
Dinnette Table
Docking Lights
Easy Fold Bimini
Seagrass Floor cover
LED lighting (blue)
Portal Light
Premium sound w/transom spkrs
Satellite radio
Sof-trac mat Swim platform
Trim Tabs
Vaccuflush Head
Windlass

It has these but I wouldn't get them if I had to custom order
Dash/trim package (wood)
Flagpole
Tool kit
Transom Shower

The only thing I'd add if I was buying new would be the joystick. WE have some tight places and I'm still getting used to driving twins, having the joystick would make it a lot easier to get in and out of our moorage.

We boat on Lake Washington in Seattle so our summers are not hot (no need for hard top) and the twin 300s have plenty of power (fastest time to plane for that boat). We added cockpit heat when it arrived in Seattle as our early season (April) and late season (october/nov) boating gets a little chilly as well as when we come back to the dock at night (usually drops to the upper 60s in the summer here).

A lot of the options really depend on where you boat, some lakes eat anchors so a windlass would be a bad call, other places are super hot so you'll want a hard top.

Nice boat trs! Glad you picked up one with twins. I think youll find eventually that its easier to dock with twins over a single drive even with the bigger boat. Some really nice options too. Congrats!
