Dont let your Sink.. Sink

So for those of you with Console or bathroom sinks let me give you a warning.
As I was working on the 282 Sunday (getting some garage boating in), I dropped a screw in the sink at the starboard console. No biggie as I saw it below the stainless trap so with a quick Phillips screwdriver I was on my way to recovering it.
I pulled the cover and stood in amazement as the lower hose and drain head slithered out of view. Whatttt?? No collar ?? No zip ties?? where did it go??

So now its time to take the Console apart. Then the horror hit me as I realized it had slithered out like a snake to the bottom off the hull .. Really 4 foot to the darkest depth. No tricky compartment here, as Boats are designed like cars. (made to be put together.. Not taken apart).

So being that the hole isnt big enough to look in it was time for my Bore scope to come back to life.. 4 feet later there she was..

Now with modern technology and fear of cutting a hole in the floor it was time for extraction.

. So in short. Do not trust that anything on Freshwater plumbing systems resemble home type set ups, with collars and clamps. Boats are Boats.

Wow. Thanks for sharing Matt. And thanks for taking us with you on your fishing trip. That sinking feeling when something like that sinks out of sight? Eww. Glad you were able to fish it out.
I like your work benches btw. Reminds me of home and some of my neighbors.
And the dummy head? Here we use those for target practice. But seeing as you are in California... ?
